POV: Isadora
“Henry.”, I interrupted. “We… we need to talk.”
He looked at me, having just opened the fridge to grab the ingredients. My heart was racing; I was so nervous I could barely keep my feet under me. Come on, Isadora. If you really love him, you have to tell him the truth.
He closed the fridge without breaking eye contact. His blue eyes were intense, like they were trying to scan me, to read my mind.
“Yeah, you’re right.”, he stepped closer, and I tried not to show how confused I was.
Was there a chance he already knew what I was going to say? A thousand possibilities started racing through my head. What if he’d already found out? Or if he at least suspected something? Maybe Carol almost blurting out my name in front of him had made him connect the dots.
“Anne.”, I stared at him, my heart feeling like it was about to explode. He had the expression of someone about to give a closing argument in court.
“I’m not the type of person who likes to leave things up in the air. I value clarity.”, he paused, weighing his words. I was on the verge of a heart attack.
“I’m not interested in seeing anyone else.”, he looked at me softly. “The time I spend with you is the best part of my day. I don’t want this to be casual. I want something serious. I want you to be my girlfriend.”
I honestly should have fainted right then and there. There’s no way a normal human heart can handle that kind of emotional whiplash. One second, I was absolutely terrified, fearing he’d discovered the whole truth. The next, I felt like the luckiest woman in the world.
Was he really asking me to be his girlfriend? Is that what he thought I wanted to talk about? Making us "official"? My god, I was so on cloud nine in that moment that I didn’t even remember what I’d wanted to say. Actually, I didn’t even care; there was something way more important happening at that moment.
“So, what do you say?”, he looked at me anxiously, waiting for an answer.
“That’s exactly what I want.”, I smiled at him, and then his lips met mine in an intense kiss that almost turned into something more, until he remembered he had to get back to making dinner.
Henry was making pan-seared ribeye with grilled vegetables, mashed potatoes, and a green salad. He cooked like a pro, handling and prepping the food with surgical precision.
“Where did you learn to cook like that? Did you take a class?”
“No.”, he smiled. “My mother taught me.”
“Wow! Is she a chef?”, I asked. He stopped what he was doing, freezing as if he’d slipped into some kind of trance. “Henry?”, I called out.
“Sorry.”, he answered quickly, snapping out of it. “No, she… she just always loved to cook.”
Once everything was ready, he set the table and served me. It smelled divine, and it tasted even better. Seeing a man as powerful and busy as him taking the time to prepare something with such care just for me wasn't just attractive, it made me fall for him even harder.
After dinner, I helped him clean up the kitchen, and then he practically devoured me. He waited just long enough for me to put the last plate in the cabinet before attacking me like I was his dessert.
He started hugging me from behind, kissing my neck. When I turned around, he swept me up into his arms, gripping my legs firmly, and carried me to the living room.
Unlike my couch, his could easily fit both of us. He laid me down and hovered over me. I was wearing the same dress from lunch, which he quickly made disappear, leaving me in just my underwear.
I started unbuttoning his dress shirt, dying to get my hands on those shredded abs of his, while he trailed his mouth down to my chest. I was starting to lose control, burning up all over again.
After running my hands over his abs, I moved down to the bulge in his pants. As soon as I squeezed him, Henry let out a sharp breath and quickly unbuttoned his pants, releasing him for me.
Then, I gripped him firmly, my hand moving the length of him. He couldn’t hold out for long, and soon he was inside me, moving through several different positions.
After reaching my limit more than once, I slept like an angel in his bed. I only woke up the next day to the sound of my alarm. Henry wasn’t there, but since he was an early riser, it wasn't a surprise.
I got up and went to the bathroom. My eyes went wide the second I looked at myself in the large mirror above the sink.
“You little leech.”, I muttered, looking at the marks he’d left on my neck.
They weren’t too bad; a little foundation would easily hide them. I went to find my makeup bag, which I’d packed along with some clothes to stay the night, and went back to the bathroom.
I was almost done covering them up when Henry walked into the room.
“Anne?”, he called.
“In here.”, I replied, and he came over.
“I made coffee… what are you doing?”, he smirked when he saw me dabbing foundation on my neck.
“I’m hiding the marks you left on me, you vampire.”, he laughed and stepped toward me, hugging me from behind.
“It’s your fault for being so delicious.”, he kissed my cheek. “And you’re not exactly innocent either. My back is covered in scratches.”, I smiled.
“Yeah, but it’s much easier for you to hide yours.”
“Then don’t hide them. That way everyone will know you’re mine.”, he kissed my cheek again and I gave him a goofy smile. Yeah, I was completely his.
“Come on, let’s go eat.”, I nodded and we went to the kitchen, where a spread was waiting for us.
“Wow!”, I said, sitting down. “Now this is what I call a hearty breakfast.”
“I have to feed my princess.”, he said, making me melt.
I simply couldn’t resist "Charming Henry" mode.
After breakfast, he dropped me off at my apartment and headed to work. I only went inside to put on my wig and then rushed home to change before heading to campus, since I had none of my 'Isadora clothes' left to wear.
When I got home, I snuck in, hoping not to run into my mom. I’d already spent two nights away from home right after breaking up with Ryan. She’d definitely want an explanation, but I wasn't in the mood to give her one right now.
I hurried upstairs, went into my room, grabbed the first outfit I saw in the closet, and changed. I headed back down even faster, but when I opened the door to leave…
“Well, look who decided to show up.”
I turned around, and there was my mother with her arms crossed, and she wasn't alone. Isabella was standing right next to her. Great. Now there was no way I was getting out of the house.
