Chasing Bliss

Chapter 10: Sophie

Before a minute could even pass, we already heard the doorbell rang. I was sure without a doubt that it was uncle Jon so I stood up and fixed myself before heading for the door.

I walked towards the door as I saw Draevon took a spoonful of food inside his mouth simultaneously before walking fast to catch up with me. Amara being the girly-girl in the family wiped her mouth gently with a table napkin before catching up with us. We passed through lots of bags. I know Amara packed more than enough clothes to suffice for 2 weeks. Few more steps and we already reached the door. I sighed nervously. This is it. The moment I open the door, it means I'm going to face something different. I'm going to face something bigger than just take a rest under our roof playing music only for myself. Oh, God. Please give me the courage I need to face this all.

Nervously, I reached my hands to open the door but before I could open it, Draevon blocked the doorknob. Facing us, he quickly swallowed all the foods in his mouth. "I think this door is for me." he stated with a sly smile receiving a confused face from both Amara and I. He turned his back on us and fixed his cloth. As he opened the door, a pretty familiar face was shown. I wasn't mistaken. It's- it's Sophie!

"Aahhhhhh!"

Amara shouted in glee as she ran towards Sophie and leaned in her for a hug. Her girly aura gone. Just a jolly girl present. I missed Sophie too so I joined their hug. "Hey, hey. Out of the way, peasants." Draevon said as he slightly pushed us making her way to Sophie as soon as he separated Mara from his girl. He wrapped both his arms around Sophie's waist and Sophie wrapped her arms around his nape. "Did you missed me?" Draevon asked before leaning a little closer to kiss her shoulder. Sophie smiled as an answer. "Of course." Draevon was about to lean in for a kiss when Sophie slightly hit his cheeks. "Not in front of them." She said before totally breaking out of Draevon's arms.

"I heard your going on a trip?" she asked with a warm smile looking at me straight in the eyes. "Yes. For a minute I thought it would be now." I answered with a giggle as I really thought it was uncle Jon waiting in the door. "Anyway, how's your vacation?" I asked checking up on her. She just picked up her paper bags and walked pass me as she shrug her shoulders. "Let's not talk about it. You know how I hate being with my relatives." she answered with a smile. "You're still not in a good term with your grandma?" Amara scoffed. Finding it quite funny somehow. "Yeah. Says a lass who hates her auntie." Sophie responded while walking nearer the couch. She sat down and gently puts the bags down. "You know that it's rude to keep your guest standing." she said that made us giggle. Draevon closed the door and we followed Sophie. Don't get it wrong. We are in a really good terms.

As soon as we sat down, she handed Amara one of her paper bags. "This is my late present for your graduation. I hope it still counts." She said in a joking manner. Amara received the biggest bag Sophie brought as she replied, "It's better late than never." and the two of them shared a laugh. Amara opened the bag and there she saw a cute purple bear with a pink ribbon in its ear. It's wearing a pink top paired with a black and white checker skirt. For its feet, it was wearing a red shoe. It's size is approximately 32×24 centimeters. "Thank you!" Amara said in so much joy as she hugged Sophie. Amara really love cute stuffs specially when it comes in purple. I really love how Sophie never forgets such small details. Probably one of the reason why they're still together.

For me? I wasn't expecting anything since I haven't accomplished much but to my surprise, she handed me an approximately 23 inches paper bag. "Thank you." I replied briefly with a sweet smile. I wonder what this is. "Oh no problem. You did a great job roasting your auntie." she said with a playful smile. They laughed at what she said while I just giggled. Thinking about it, I really did great playing Fur Elise but then again, it wasn’t a wise choice since they have taken use of my piano talents. "Aren't you gonna open it?" my thoughts were cleared off when Draevon asked me. I prefer not to but I guess I should open it. I peaked on what's inside and the I saw a ukelele! I smiled with excitement as I unboxed what's inside. There was a rectangular box inside the bag and when I opened it, a ukelele painted in yellow appeared. It has a Pikachu design which I clearly love! It also came with a freebie of black ukelele bag, a tuner, capo, extra strings, and cute stickers. I gently put it down as I sat near Sophie's place to give a warm tight hug. "Thank you. I really loved it." We were in that position before we heard a honking sound. And there I was sure, it was uncle Jon.

This ukelele came with a cute design and in a right time. I'm pretty sure the travel would be long and what's a trip without music? And 2 weeks is a lot for me to handle. I can't survive boredom with just my phone. I know aunt Ruby has piano but I prefer to stay at granny's place which lacks musical instruments. I was thinking of bringing my 7 year old ukelele instrument but what's the need when you got a new one? Through this gift, my anxiety is lessen somehow. This would be a constant reminder that there are people who believes in me. That there are people who loves me. People like Draevon, Amara, and Sophie.
