Chapter 6: Chocolates

1779 Words
Water dripping down through my body. I’ve been under the shower for two hours already but I still can’t accept the fact that all of it was real. If only it wasn’t for granny, I wouldn’t go. But apparently, I’m scared. Scared not because she’s a terror person who you can’t defy for the rest of your days but because she’s too soft and fragile and loving and kind and every good thing in the world and I’m too scared of disappointing her. Letting her down would be the last thing I’d ever do. However, facing the crowds, taking the spotlight, help aunt Ruby build something to brag about, and the mere thought of going there sounds like a nightmare to me. I closed my eyes in defeat with the reality and just leaned back to the bathroom’s wall. Let out a deep sigh and slid my way down so I could sit to the bathroom’s floor. I gently hugged my knees and just let my face stare into the pouring water. How am I supposed to face all that I hate at once? “I’m about to lose my sanity.” Knock! Knock! Knock! I heard a mumbling after all those knocks but I haven’t heard it since the shower’s still on plus, the knock came from the door in my room and not directly into my room’s bathroom. I decided to stand up and turn the shower off. Paved the curtain that’s blocking the sink, toilet, and the mini cabinet I have here. I quickly reached for my body towel and wrapped it around my body. After ensuring that the towel’s securely wrapped around me, I then reached for my hair towel and gently pat it unto my hair. Went straight to the sink to brush my teeth. I wiped my face clean the moment finished brushing my teeth. I walked my way through my room and bruh. It’s cold. Turns out, I forgot to turn the air conditioner off due to the stress the Hodkins gave me. I reached for my phone and searched for TWICE on YouTube to somehow enlighten me. Cheer up. Nice. I really needed some cheering up so having this to play somehow manages to cheer me up. I tossed my phone gently at my bed and went to my walk-in-cabinet to see what I could wear. There’s so much of a choice but I decided that wearing something simple would be nice since I won’t be going out for today. I grabbed a fitted white shirt and a loose orange short that is approximately 7 inches above my knee and a pair of undergarments, of course. After wearing them, I went to the table just right beside my bed to apply lotion, baby powder, lip balm, and cologne. I brushed my hair gently in front of a mirror and voila. I look as fresh as a flower. I’m afraid the bees might chase me for mistaking me as a flower. “so now, baby, cheer up.” The lyrics played from my phone. “Yes. I’m too pretty to be stressed out. I need to cheer up.” I said to myself as I managed to make a smile. I was thirsty so I thought a glass of cold water would be nice. I went outside the room and took my way down the stairs. I went straight to the kitchen when I noticed Draevon was sitting down at the sofa not too far from the kitchen. He seems annoyed so I went to check on him. “Hey.” I started before drinking my water. He faced me as he sarcastically gave me a smile. “What’s the matter?” I asked. “Thank God you’re done. After too long of a waiting.” He said still wearing the sarcastic smile. I was about to ask again but before I could open my mouth, he has already held my hands and guided me towards the door. Being a gentleman he is, he opened the car’s door and confused, I entered and sat down; still holding the glass. I heard the door slam and he went his way to other side of the car which is to the driver’s seat. “Shall we go?” he asked with a sincere smile. That smile of sarcasm gone. Still confused, I nodded. He nodded and instantly turned the engine on. I saw Amara open the gate so we could pass. I wanted to ask many stuffs but my eyes laid on my glass still full of water. My head still floating above the clouds, I took a sip of it. 5 minutes have passed but none of us spoke a word. I was getting more and more excited. Thinking that there’s a surprise waiting for me as we make our way out of the village. I am getting thrilled. Is this my prize for letting that woman eat back her words? I can’t help but make a smile. How I wish it would be chocolates and ice creams. Lots of it. Draevon has probably saw me smiling excitedly that made him burst out laughing. He was laughing as if there’s no tomorrow. He found it funny, I know. His face tells it all. Literally tells it as his face is so red from laughing really hard. “Why are you laughing?” I asked raising my eyebrow. He cleared his throat as he fixes his composure and faced the road back again. “That’s not the question. Your question should be, “why are you smiling?”” He said holding back is laugh. Embarrassed, I tilted my head to face the window. So, it wasn’t a surprise, I guess. Too sad. “Why did you even drag me here?” I asked trying my best to sound firm even though I’m really flustered with my thoughts. I thought chocolates and ice creams won’t let me down but clearly, they did. “We were about to get some groceries, remember? Mom asked us before she left and I even reminded you earlier.” He responded calmly. The knock came from him. I see. After almost half an hour of driving, we finally reached the local city market located at the city proper. He instructed me to wait for him at the entrance while he parks the car. I put the glass at the car floor before leaving his car. As I was walking through the entrance, I accidentally saw my reflection at a glass. Gosh. I’m just wearing some random s**t I saw as I thought that I won’t be going out. What a shame. I looked at the exit and I saw bunch of girls wearing something decent that I quickly envied off. “Lucky them. They got to wear decent clothes.” “At least you’re gorgeous. Something they’d get jealous off.” I heard someone said from behind me that made me take a look and see. I looked up since Daevron is taller than me. “Why weren’t you even wearing something you like? I thought you’d get yourself ready as you were almost 3 hours inside your room.” I just gave him a shrug and cling into his arm. There’s no point in telling him that I haven’t heard him. It won’t change even a slightest bit of a fact. We entered the supermarket and got some push cart at the entrance. He gave me the checklist of what we need to get that mom gave. First in line was the wine so we went to the liquor section. Followed by many more that we made sure to put inside the cart. My insecurities were almost gone not until I noticed numerous kids at my age were looking at me. Sometimes, even the adults. I can’t help but think they’re judging me. This is what I hate about social anxieties. Grr. “You alright?” Draev asked. I nodded hesitantly that he noticed. “Is it because of all the staring?” So he noticed as well. I really can’t hide anything to Draev. I looked down and said yes. He held my chin and gently pushed it up so his eyes can meet mine. He smiled at me. The purest smile I have ever seen today. “They stare at you not because you’re ugly. They stare at you because masterpieces are worth staring for.” He said that made me want to cry but I bit my lower lip to stop my tears from dwelling. “Haven’t you checked your reflections lately? Your intact chest, small waistline, firm butt, and flawless legs are really addictive. Plus, your garments have complimented your body figure really well.” He said teasingly but I know he meant it. I punched him lightly in the chest after teasing him and we both giggled. He hugged me and I hugged him back. I don’t care if people might mistake our relationship. He looks good and I must say, our visuals are perfectly matched. “Wanna grab some chocolates?” He asked making me look up at him with a childly smile. We made our way to the aisle filled with chocolates and he instructed me to get as many as I like which I did. I grabbed some handful of Snickers and Mars, 2 boxes of Ferrero Rocher, plentiful of Toblerone, Lots of Kisses while he grabs some other more chocolate. Once satisfied with the number of sweets, we took the path to the counter. While we were waiting for our turn, I held his hand as I intertwined our fingers. I looked up at him with a sincere face and smiled. “Thanks for the chocolates. It really helped cheer me up.” I saw him smile and said, “You’re welcome. But it’s not to cheer you up.” I was confused for a moment. Luckily, he continued not too long after. “It’s your snack while you spend time practicing with Amethyst.”
