Mikhael…
I was very excited! I took a day off so I could work on my enrolment at the university. Luckily, my sudden off was approved by the office. I received a text message from Paul wishing me good luck and telling that he was so happy for me. He even wanted to come and join me but I stopped him. There was no need for him to take the day off for me. I could manage myself. I told him I'd keep him updated when I get there.
On the jeepney, I couldn't help myself but smile at the thought the I will be going back to school again. The people with me on the jeep were wearing the ID of the university. I looked at them and saw myself being like them in a few weeks.
All of us get off of the jeep when we reached the university. The students I was with went through the entrance. When I was entering, the guard made me stop and asked for my business in the university. I showed him my notification for passing the exam and I was enrolling. He verified my papers accommodatingly and pointed me through the corridor leading to the admission office.
While walking, I felt like a kindergarten again. I was fascinated by the university grounds. There was a huge soccer field at the center and a stage at the other side. The pathways were shaded connecting the buildings each were 5 floors in height. And all classrooms were air-conditioned. No wonder the tuition here was so expensive. And there screening was so strict. Only the best of the best get through. I was so lucky to made it through the cut-off.
In about 15 minutes, I reached the admission office. I knocked on the door thrice and gently opened it. I was courteously greeted by a student assistant sitting behind a desk and asked about the purpose of my visit. I told her that I passed the exams and I was there to enroll. The student smiled at me and started to act consciously. She couldn't look at me straight in the eye and she looked shy. I smiled back and handed her my documents. She was still speechless with me until another person entered the office that made her go back to her original self.
"Alfonso, Mikhael?", she asked after checking her computer. I nodded in confirmation. "Mikhael, you are late already. The enrolment of your department was last week. You have to proceed to the dean's office before we could proceed with your enrolment.", she explained.
A shallow splash of disappointment waved over me at that moment but I'm not going to stop now. I was just late and whatever the consequences of being so, I will accept as long as I could continue my studies.
I reached for my documents from the student assistant when she offered to assist me to go to the dean's office. I knew that it wasn't her job anymore to do so but I think she was doing it to flirt with me. I didn't want to be arrogant so I played it cool and accepted the offer instead.
We were about to leave the office when one of the clerk called her and handed a folder. Her smile melted as she opened it and looked at me. It was for immediate compliance so she had to attend to it. I told her I will be fine and I could find the Dean's office myself. I saw the disappointment on her face and just pointed me out where the office was.
I kept holding back a naughty smile as I turned my back and leave.
I was walking the pathways and passed three buildings already but I still couldn't find the dean's office. I was sweating and looking wasted already so I decided to go to a CR first. I asked the first guard I ran into and asked for the nearest CR and he pointed me to the end of the corridor.
I was walking hurriedly down the corridor when I saw a familiar face at the second floor of the adjacent building. It was quite a distance so I couldn't see the person's face clearly. I was so fixated by the that person when I didn't notice I was about to bump into another person.
We collided and slightly hurt each other. Good thing the person I bumped into didn't make a big deal out of it and just went on his way. I apologized and went on my way also. I looked at the second floor again but the person was not there anymore. I ran into the CR and immediately do my thing. When I get out, I ran to the second floor hoping that I could still see the person but he was not there anymore.
After not seeing the him there, I proceeded to the office of the dean already.
Dr. Antonio V. Rivero
Dean, Hotel and Restaurant Management
I read posted on his office door. I once again looked at my reflection at the glass walls of the office to check on myself. Gladly, I didn't look wasted that much after walking through three buildings. I took a deep breath, ironed my collared shirt with my hands and gently entered the dean's office.
The interview with the dean lasted for about thirty minutes. The dean was nice and a little flirty. Despite his massive size, he couldn't hide his flickering fingers at me and girly tone. The dean threw a lot of inviting smiles at me during the interview which I returned with innocent gestures of ascent. I was not new to such flirtatious act. I knew how to go with it and get my way out of it.
After the interview, she forwarded me to her assistant. I mentioned to her that I was working and requested for any schedule that could fit, either nights or weekends. She assured me that she could adjust everything for me since many classes were available. But due to my case, she told me that I couldn't have full load this semester which was fine by me.
After typing something on her computer, she printed out my schedule and handed it to me. breakdown of my tuition was there and asked me to proceed to the assessment, cashier and lastly, registrar for the class cards.
I thanked the dean's assistant and proceeded with my enrollment. The dean was busy talking to somebody on the phone when I left.
"There should be jeepneys inside the university.", I protested to myself while walking to the main building for the cashier and registrar. The university grounds were so big that you'll feel like you just join a marathon. Luckily, there were less people lined up at the cashier when I got there. I was seventh in line and there were chairs to sit down while waiting. I was so exhausted from walking that far that I felt like my back was soaking in sweat.
"How's it going Mike? Break time. Don't take all the subjects ok. It'll be hard for you.", Paul texted. I felt his concern on me with this. He was very supportive since the beginning. And besides, I was only allowed a maximum of 24 units, how heavy could that be?
While waiting for my turn, I scanned the subjects I was scheduled in by the dean's secretary,
Oral Communication
Sining ng Pakikipagtalastasan
Hotel and Restaurant Management I
Food Chem I
Food Tech I
BPP with lab
FBS with lab
And at the very bottom of the list,
College Statistics
I bitterly smiled to myself thinking that I could escape Math. I was lucky that Business Mathematics was credited from my last school year. Now, I'll be facing Statistics. Not that I was bad at it, it was just the least of my favorite among the choices.
I was patiently waiting for my turn at the cashier when I suddenly looked at the parking lot. I was stunned by the sight of the person that I saw earlier. Unlike now, he was closer and clearer. I stared closely at him and I was certain that it was him.
He was just dressed differently compared to the last time I saw him at Southwoods with Paul. He was wearing white long sleeves that were rolled up his arms. He was also wearing semi fitted jeans that matched his long sleeves and revealed his muscular legs and buttocks. Unlike in Southwoods where he was on tank top, jogging shoes and all sweaty, right now he was all formal and looking smart.
He was looking gorgeous with his outfit and he also had his hair done. Compared last time, it was long and I could still see the sweat dripping from it as he jogged. But now, it was properly kempt and stylishly combed. He was gorgeous then but his "gorgeousness" now was at different level. No one could ever resist of not looking at him at this moment. Even at a distance, I knew that he smells fresh and so good. I was almost off my seat when he put on his red-yellow shades that completed the entire outfit. He was truly amazing and dazzling.
He entered his car, started the engine and eventually drove off the parking lot.
As he drove off, I thought to myself,
"What was he doing in the university?"
"Is he a student also?"
"Will we have the same schedule"
I was day dreaming about him when a lady at my back called my attention pointing out that it was turn already. I hurriedly stood up my seat and proceeded to the cashier. I didn't look at other people in line so I wouldn't see their faces at me.
After paying, I grabbed my receipts and snuck everything in my bag. I looked at the window hoping to see him there again but he was gone.
His black car was gone already.
That was the third time I saw him and I remembered promising myself that by then, I already had his name. I may not have met that promise yet but I was positive that I will see him again. If he was studying or working at the university, it was not long until I get to know him. I told myself.
It didn't take long for me to get my class cards at the registrar.
After the enrollment, I head to the exit gates with a positive mind that I will soon meet that guy formally and ask for his name and get along with each other. Besides, we are at the same university.
