As I made my way to Hoxie Avenue, a light coating of snow was on the ground. So far, it’s been a very mild winter with little snow. After our Christmas dinner with my sister, Mary, and her family, my mother was back upstairs. I was going to Mike and Joyce’s apartment for a little holiday get-together. Augie, Larry, and I were still out of work. Mike worked nights at the Interlake Coke Plant at 112th and Torrence Avenue. I was glad that Larry, Jeannine, Barb, and Augie would be there. I didn’t know what would happen with Joyce. I hadn’t seen or talked to her since the baptism. “It’s been thirteen months since Molly left, and I realized that ‘Time Heals All Wounds.’” It still hurts when I think about her, only it’s not the sharp pain it was before, more like a dull ache, with no more tear
