Three days later, Luna’s mom woke up.
Luna was there when it happened. Holding her hand.
“Mom?” Luna whispered.
Her mom’s eyes fluttered open. Confused. Tired. “Baby?”
Luna broke down. “I’m here. I’m right here. You’re okay. You’re safe.”
Damian stood in the corner of the room. Arms crossed. Watching.
He hadn’t left the hospital in 3 days. Slept in the chair. Did meetings on his phone.
When Luna’s mom saw him, she tensed. “Who—”
“This is Damian,” Luna said quickly. “He... he helped us. He’s keeping us safe.”
Her mom looked at Damian. Really looked at him. The scars. The suit. The guards outside.
Then she looked at Luna’s small bump.
Understanding hit her face.
Luna wanted to die. “Mom, I can explain—”
Her mom held up a hand. “Later.” Then she looked at Damian. “Thank you. For saving my daughter.”
Damian nodded once. “It’s my responsibility.”
Responsibility. That word again.
Luna hated it.
---
That night, they went home.
Home = the mansion. The panic room.
Luna was exhausted. But happy. Her mom was alive.
She was in the kitchen at 2am, making tea, when she felt it.
A flutter.
Like butterflies. Low in her stomach.
She froze.
“Damian,” she called, voice shaking.
He was there in 2 seconds. “What? What’s wrong?”
Luna grabbed his hand and put it on her bump. “Here. Feel.”
Damian frowned. “Feel what—”
Then it happened again.
A tiny kick. Against his palm.
His whole body went still.
His eyes went wide. Like a kid on Christmas.
“Was that...” he whispered.
“The baby,” Luna said, smiling through tears. “It kicked.”
Damian didn’t move his hand. He kept it there, like if he moved, it would stop.
“Again,” he said softly.
And it did. Another little flutter.
Damian laughed. A real, shocked laugh.
The Alpha CEO. The ruthless wolf. Laughing because a baby kicked him.
“It’s so small,” he said. “How is it so small but so strong?”
Luna was crying now. Happy crying. “I don’t know.”
Damian looked up at her. And in that moment, he didn’t look like an Alpha.
He looked like a dad.
“Thank you,” he said.
“For what?”
“For this.” He touched her bump again. “For giving me this.”
Luna’s heart cracked open. “You’re welcome.”
They stood there in the kitchen at 2am, his hand on her belly, neither speaking.
Just feeling the baby move.
---
The next morning, everything changed.
Damian called a pack meeting. Again.
But this time, he wasn’t angry.
He walked in holding Luna’s hand. In front of everyone.
“I have an announcement,” he said. The hall went silent. “Last night, I felt my child kick for the first time.”
Gasps.
“Whatever you think of Luna,” Damian continued. “Whatever you think of me. This child is the future of the North Pack. And I will burn this world down before I let anyone hurt them.”
He looked at Luna. “This is my Luna. This is my family. Anyone who has a problem with that can leave the pack. Today.”
No one moved.
One by one, wolves started bowing.
Even the elders.
Luna cried. Right there. In front of 200 wolves.
Damian squeezed her hand.
---
After the meeting, Victoria’s old friends tried to talk to Luna.
“Congratulations, Luna.”
“We’re so happy for the Alpha.”
Luna just nodded. She didn’t trust them yet.
But she wasn’t scared either. Not anymore.
That night, Damian came to her room.
He had a book in his hands.
“What’s that?” Luna asked.
“Baby names,” Damian said, sitting on the floor by her bed. “I thought... maybe we should start looking.”
Luna’s heart melted. “You want to pick names? Together?”
“If you’ll let me.”
They spent 3 hours going through the book.
Arguing. Laughing.
Damian wanted strong wolf names. Luna wanted soft human names.
They compromised on everything.
At the end, Damian closed the book. “Whatever we name it, it’s going to be loved. So much.”
Luna nodded. “Yeah. It is.”
Damian stood to leave. At the door he stopped.
“Luna?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m glad it was you.”
Then he was gone.
Luna lay in bed, hand on her belly.
For the first time, she wasn’t pregnant by a contract.
She was pregnant by a man who chose her. Every day.
---
Two weeks passed.
Peaceful. Quiet.
Luna’s mom got moved to a private wing. Damian paid for everything.
Luna started feeling the baby every day. Kicks. Flutters. Hiccups.
Damian was there for all of it.
He stopped going to the office. Worked from home.
He learned how to make tea. Badly.
He read to the baby at night. Even though it couldn’t hear him yet.
One night, Luna woke up to Damian sitting on the edge of her bed.
“You okay?” she asked, sleepy.
Damian shook his head. “I had a nightmare. That I lost you. That I lost the baby.”
Luna sat up and took his hand. “We’re here. We’re okay.”
Damian looked at her. “I don’t know what I did to deserve you. But I’m not letting you go.”
Luna smiled. “Good. Because I’m not going anywhere.”
He leaned down and kissed her forehead. Then her cheek. Then her lips.
Soft. Slow.
When they pulled apart, Luna whispered, “Stay.”
Damian didn’t argue. He lay down beside her. Careful of the bump.
Pulled her into his arms.
And for the first time since this started, they fell asleep together.
Not as contract partners.
As something more.
---
The next morning, Luna woke up alone.
There was a note on the pillow.
**"Had to go to pack business. Be back by dinner. Made you tea. Don’t drink it cold. - D"**
Luna smiled and touched her belly. “Your dad is whipped, huh?”
The baby kicked in response.
Luna laughed.
Outside, the sun was shining.
For the first time, the future didn’t look scary.
It looked like home.
