Ethan POV:
"My son!" Gushed my mother as she ran to me and wrapped her hands around me, smothering my face with kisses and hugs, "I am so glad that you are doing better!" She looked like she was on the verge of tears. My heart softened at that and I smiled at her, "mom, I'm a bit too big for this kind of affection," I said playfully and she laughed, "never, you will always be my baby." I rolled my eyes at her, "your father and I want to have dinner with you tonight, now that you're all better!" She gushed and as I opened my mouth to speak, she continued with her speech, "I have asked the cooks to make all your favorite dishes!" I smiled at her, I felt guilty for what I was about to say, "I can't exactly have dinner with you tonight," I said and I watched as her face changed from smiling to confused irritation. "Why not?" She asked and I took a breath before replying, "I am going to the cliffs for a bit, I just want to run in my wolf now that I am better." "You could do that any other night!" She exclaimed as she brushed off my needs. "Mother, please-" She turned around, ignoring me, "supper will be at 6 pm." "I might not make it." She turned around and glared at me, which was unlike her, "can't you just understand Ethan that we care about you, we only want what's best for you." "I understand, " I said feeling guilty, "but, I already made plans-" "Reschedule them or even better just cancel them altogether! You have only just recovered and we don't want you getting sick again." Just like that the conversation was over and she was walking away. I could not understand why she was being like this but then I felt guilty. Even if Selena said yes, I would have to let her down and if I ignored my parents and went with her, I'd be letting them down and either way no one was happy. I sighed to myself and decided to go back to my room. I needed to figure out how I was going to do this. "Hi Ethan," came a small voice, I turned around. "What do you want Alice?" I asked in a dull tone, "nothing, I just wanted to apologize-" I put my hand up, stopping her from continuing. "Alice, you don't have to because I don't care." She looked hurt by my words but nodded regardless, "I understand, maybe we could be friends for real this time and I could help you out in any way you want," she was twisting her hands together and I just nodded and walked off but her words, they stuck to me. Maybe Alice could help me out. As I walked, I found myself making a bee line for her scent. That fresh smell of citrus was so prominent against all other smells and without fail, there she was. She was busy washing the inside of the oven, she had stuck her whole head inside and was scrubbing at something with so much concentration that she had not noticed me enter. I had a beautiful view of her ass and I had to use all my will power to suppress the urge to go over there and pull her up into a deep embrace and my possessive growl. It was getting out of hand but even my wolf wanted more and more of her that it was becoming a bit too hard to deny him. I cleared my throat and she removed her body carefully before looking up at me. When she noticed it was me, her body seemed to relax, "oh! It's just you," she said and turned around again, "yes," I said nervously, "I feel kind of hungry," I said awkwardly, not really certain how to speak to her anymore. Selena wanted to be treated like an equal but how do I do that without putting her in danger? "Hmmm," she responded and my heart picked up pace at the sexiness in that simple sound. "Would you care to join me for a meal?" I asked, "no," she responded casually, "okay, well, uhmmm... that's fine-" "Do you want me to make you something or did you just come here to announce yourself?" She asked as she interrupted my blubbering, "yes!" She turned around nonchalantly and went to the pantry, "what would you like to eat?" She asked, she was making me even more nervous, "maybe a toasted cheese and tomatoe sandwich," I said. This was absurd, I was a soon to be alpha terrified of an omega because she was my mate. It was like everything was getting out of control. "Go to your room," she said and I looked at her in shock, she c****d her eye brow at me annoyed that I was not leaving immediately, "I will bring it to you genius!" I nodded and spun on my heels and walked away. I really need to get a grip on this situation and earn her trust!
