That brave step

‘ tell me if anything happens’ Rajbeer’s msg pooped on the screen of Amayra’s phone as she entered her house, she looked behind, the one standing behind her was Rajbber, dressed in a burkha from head to toe, no one could make out he was not a woman. Amayra nodded and walked back inside her house, the whole street was busy because a fight was ongoing there, and when there was no one there, she figured her parents were out there as well, Daksh always managed everything well. She looked at her reflection in the mirror as his words echoed in her ears, ‘ abort it ‘, she could not help but sit on the floor of her room, how easy it was for him to say that to abort it, it… he refered to their unborn child as ‘ it’, he did not even acknowledge their baby as a baby. “what should I do now?” She asked to the silence of her room, closing her eyes. A tear escaped her eyes as she let her emotions flow. If her parents came to know she is pregnant either they will get her married forcefully or they will make her abort her child. She grabbed her phone and looked at the picture she had hidden, It was of Daksh and her, he was looking directly into her eyes while she struggled to hold his gaze, Rajbeer had clicked this photo for them when they were away from the city for a day. Her hands slid to the left as another photo of them appeared on the screen, it was just after the last moment that Rajbeer had called their name and both of them had turned their face towards the camera with a small smile on their face. He had clicked this photo then. He loved photography, mostly for himself and his friends, and he could turn into a professional photogprapher. She opened the chat, he was online… just on the other side of the screen. ‘Daksh’ she typed his name like she always did, calling him out. ‘Yes?’ came his reply the next instant, of course he knew Rajbeer had taken her home, he kept tabs on her now and then. ‘Marry me’ she asked, it was as simple as that she could not live without him. It hurt no it made her heart bleed to even think of a life without him. Daksh looked at the message on his phone screen and closed his eyes for a second before he replied, ‘No’ Amayra had tears in her eyes as she read it, she knew Daksh never went back on his words. She wiped her face and looked away for a second. ‘I’ll die’ she typed, knowing the consequences of her words. ‘die’ came his reply as she broke into tears. Holding her belly, she looked at the screen, maybe, just maybe he said that out of frustration, he would call back… right? But he did not. Half an hour went by, and not even a single word from his end came. Her throat ached as she got up. “Sorry,” she said before breaking the glass vase kept on the table. It shattered into a thousand pieces as she picked one with a sharp edge. She looked at the screen once again before pressing the dial button to connect a video call with him, but he declined her call. A smile made its way to her lips as she threw the phone on the bed, sliced her wrist, and fell on the ground. It was as easy as that, her head started to feel heavy because of sudden blood loss before everything faded into dark black.
