I peeked through my eyelashes to see if Derek was awake. He was propped up on his elbow, staring at me. I yawned deeply and stretched. I realized my legs felt like jelly. I had wanted to know what it was like to have s*x and there I was basking in the moment. It had been everything I thought be and more. I turned toward him and smiled.
"How do you feel?" I asked.
"The question is, how do you feel?" he countered.
I did a full body inventory of myself.
"I feel like I want to do that again as soon as possible," I said. He grinned and leaned down to kiss me. I giggled. Just as things were starting to reheat up between us, my phone rang. I rolled over and picked it up. It was Dade.
"No," I said out loud. I hit decline and tried to go back to my comfortable position.
"Would you like me to answer it?" asked Derek.
"No!" I said a little too harsh. I rolled back over to the phone and picked it up.
"Hello," I said into the phone.
"Thank God you answered," said Dade.
"What do you want, Dade?"
"Jessie is missing. She disappeared sometime during the night, and I'm panicking a little. Can I come over? I know that we are not on the best of terms, but I just need a friend at the moment."
"Fine, but just so you know, I have company."
"That's fine. I really miss you, Skeeter," I rolled my eyes.
"I will see you in a few minutes," I said and hung up. I turned to look at Derek. "Looks like a raincheck," I said to him as I kissed his forehead before starting to throw on some clothes.
"So what are you gonna tell him?" asked Derek.
"The truth. You work for my dad,
and I invited you over for lunch."
"Oh, I get lunch, too? Because breakfast was amazing."
"Put some clothes on," I said. " He will be here in less than ten minutes." I walked to the kitchen to actually start lunch as he got dressed.
Something was nagging at me in the back of my mind about Jessie.
What would make her run off? Had they had a fight?
I brought out the leftovers from the night before and started to reheat them. Derek came into the kitchen and came up behind me as I was making the plates and nuzzled my neck.
"I'm glad you're a good cook," he said as he raked his teeth lightly across my collar bone. I shivered.
"I'm glad you like my cooking," I said as I finished putting mashed potatoes on his plate. Just then, the doorbell wrang. I handed him his plate and went to answer the door. Dade smiled a small smile at me as I opened the door.
"Come on in," I said as I held the door out from him. He came in, and I started toward the kitchen. He was hot on my heels. Derek sat at the table slowly eating. He stood up to meet Dade.
"Hello, I'm Derek," said Derek as he held out his hand.
"Dade," said Dade as he shook it. He looked at me like I had suddenly grown two heads.
"Derek is Dad's new deckhand. I invited him over for lunch," I told him. They were both sizing each other up. Physically, they were about the same size and could look at each other eye to eye, but Derek was definitely the looker of the two, and I saw Dade's jaw twitch as he recognized Derek's potential.
"Help yourself to some leftovers," I said as I pointed to the food. He was never one to turn down a meal, and he went to the cabinet and got down another plate. He knew his way around our tiny kitchen all too well. I made a mental note to rearrange some things.
"So tell me about Jessie," I said as he sat down next to me.
"She told her mom the news, and it went as expected. They had a big fight, and Jessie left walking. Her mom figured she went to cool off, but she never came home."
"Where does Jessie live?" I asked.
"You know that subdivision they built that backs up to the edge of the forest by the school? She lives back in there somewhere. I've never actually been to her house." My heart sank. I looked over at Derek. He was frowning. He must have had the same thought I did.
Could Jessie have found the portal?
I got up and poured each of us a lemonade from the fridge. My mind was racing now. As angry as I was at the both of them, I never wanted Jessie or her unborn baby hurt. I wanted to go out to the portal right now and look for her, but I knew there was no point. It was still daylight, and the portal wouldn't open until the moon rose. I looked back to Derek, who seemed to read my mind. He shook his head at me. He finished his plate and then went to the sink and rinsed it before placing it in the dishwasher. I smirked a little, thinking about how simple he lived in the fae world. Dades phone rang, and I could tell it was his mom. The police were at his house.
"I guess they want to talk to me," he sighed. "This is the second time a girl has mysteriously disappeared. Luckily, you came home. You know they came and questioned me while you were gone?"
"I didn't know that," I said. He reached across the table and grabbed my hand. He looked sorrowful. I heard Derek's chair creak, and I withdrew my hand. I looked at him briefly, and he had the same murderous look on his face he had the day he scared me. I reached under the table and grabbed his leg. His demeanor changed, and he put his hand on mine and gripped it lovingly.
"Thank you for lunch," said Dade. He got up to leave, and I walked him to the door. He turned back to me.
"I really do miss you," he said.
"I'm sorry you're going through all of this," I said. "I think we both know we were better off as friends anyway." He nodded and turned and left. When I got back to the kitchen, Derek was gone. I went to my room and there he was back on the bed.
"I'm ready for that raincheck," he said. I laughed. I pulled out my phone and texted my dad and asked when he would be back. Within seconds, he texted back and said he was playing poker tonight, and it might be after ten. I immediately locked my door and took off all of my clothes, and crawled into bed with him.
"What is this bond we are supposed to have feel like?" I asked.
He thought for a minute and then looked at me really concerned.
"I don't think we're bonded," he finally said.
"Why wouldn't we be?" I quirked.
"Maybe it was the condom. Maybe the barrier kept us from linking.
I snorted a giggle.
"You mean to tell me that you're kind has been exhiling each other all because you don't use birth control?"
He laughed, too.
"I know there are some faes who mate and bond beforehand so they don't have to do it on their wedding night."
"What would that matter?" I asked.
"Traditionally speaking, the first time is done as a ritual in front of the entire town. If they choose to bond before marriage, that tradition is skipped. As far as pregnancies go, fae can only conceive one night of the year on Beltane. It's not necessary to use birth control. I guess the ones that were exiled didn't know the condoms would work and bonded to each other."
I kissed him then and reached over to my nightstand and pulled out another condom.
"Just leave the drawer open," he said as his mouth met mine. He kissed down my chest, and then he pulled his very firm large member out from under the cover as he kicked it off the bed. I straddled him and eased my way down onto it. I was a little sore, but after a few slow and easy strokes, I quickened my pace and enjoyed the ride. After a few more strokes, he started to match my rhythm, and I started to go up and down harder onto him. He was thrusting up hard as I thrusted down. We were slamming into each other fervently.
"Oh God, Derek!" I screamed.
"Let it go, baby," he said, and I did as if on command. I convulsed as the orgasm rolled through me, and when it finished, I fell to the side next to him, panting heavily. It wasn't over. I had no time to recover when Derek pulled me onto my knees and got behind me.
"My turn," he said and slammed himself into me so hard I cried out again. And he did it again and again. I felt myself building again, and this time when I came, he came with me.
"f**k!" he yelled as it rolled over him. I laid down, and he laid on top of me. Even with his weight, I was in pure heaven. After a while, I stirred.
"I'm going to take a bath," I said. He got up and threw the condom away.
"I'll wash your back," he said as he followed me.
