Chapter 2 - The annual meeting

Sierannas pov

It was almost time to leave for the grand hall in the pack house. Alissa had picked out a dress it was a beautiful sapphire coloured silky dress that was figure hugging it made me feel incredibly self conscious but Alissa said i looked jaw dropping. After we where both all ready to go we stepped outside and made our way. It was busy there where thousands of people already here from all the local packs. “Hey I’m going to get us both a drink” Alissa looked at me before disappearing into the crowed. I stood there awkwardly for 5 minutes when she returned. “Come on Sieranna let your hair down we can have a fun night forget everything else and just live a little”. She was right since my rejection I had stopped letting myself enjoy life I wanted to be focused so I could get away as soon as possible. “Okay your right” I said sheepishly. “Of course I am I’m your best friend I just want you to be happy” she pulled my hand through the crowed and we began to dance. I felt so carefree in that moment I remembered how I was before everything had happened I missed this a smile plastered over my face as I allowed myself to feel the music through my feet letting it take over my body.

“I need to pop to the bathroom I’ll be back in five” I shouted to Alissa. Forcing my way through the crowed I started making my way through the corridor to the bathroom. I was in a world of my own when I blissfully ran into something hard … wait no this wasn’t somthing it was some one. “I’m so sorry” I squealed as I raised my head to meet his gaze. Oh great ! “You should be you pathetic omega, your going to regret that” he snapped. Without another word his had was round my throat I felt my head smash against the wall before it started to throb. “You see why I rejected you” he spat. “Why on earth the moon goddess thought you where worthy of being my mate is beyond me”. Why couldn’t I catch a break from this guy. “It was an accident, why can’t you just leave me alone I have never done anything to you. You think I wanted to be mated to someone like you. I accepted your rejection and yet you still continue to humiliate me”. I screamed this time I felt nothing but hatred and anger for this man. “Quite a mouth you have there omega, I’d watch your tone if I where you before I show you why we could never be mates”. His grip around my throat tightened. “Just let me go you didn’t want me so why are you still here I said I was sorry. Just leave me alone”. I didn’t understand why he kept doing this. “I warned you b***h” He growled. Suddenly I felt a fire spreading across my cheek as the sound rippled through the hall he slapped me.

A loud explosive growl erupted from behind him “GET YOUR HANDS OF MY MATE IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE”. Suddenly my nose was hit with the most delicious scent I had ever smelled a beautiful mixture of sandalwood and vanilla. “ I WONT TELL YOU AGAIN ZACHARY HANDS OFF HER NOW” slowly his hold from my neck loosened as he turned to see who had dared speak to him this way. His face was seething with anger I could feel the heat bubbling inside of him. I had nearly missed it as I couldn’t get the smell out of my head and the sound of his voice was so intense it held an authority but some how it didn’t scare me as it should of.

Zachery turned to see the tall man towering over him. How was this possible I had never met anyone bigger than him before. Seemingly unfazed by the man confronting him he laughed. “Your mate” he chuckled. “Your welcome to her she’s used goods I’d be glad for you to take her at least I’m not the only person unfortunate enough to have been paired with this pathetic, orphaned omega” the hatred and anger radiating from his voice.

Next thing I knew Zachary was on the floor blood pooling around his body. “You have no idea who I am or what I am capable of so I suggest you stay away from her in future next time you won’t be walking away” Zachary scrambled away leaving a trail of blood in his path before was out of sight. I was face to face with the strange man I had never seen before. His eyes softened and his once tense and angry demeanour quickly evaporated. “Are you okay” his voice no longer angry but full of pure concern. “Yes thank you for helping me with him” I replied my voice trembling with a mixture of residual anger and pure shock at the events that had just unraveled. He moved his hand to my cheek brushing his thumb against it where there had once been searing pain there was now a trail of sparks in its place with his every touch. “Does it hurt here come with me let’s get some ice and fresh air we could both use it” before giving me a chance to respond he swept me up into his arms and carried me out to the balcony down the end of the hall. Moments later another man came out handing the handsome stranger some ice before bowing his head “Is that all alpha” he asked. “Yes thank you Caleb”.

He returned his focus to me placing the ice against my cheek. I couldn’t help by stair into his eyes they where beautiful like chocolate brown with perfectly formed swirls of caramel glistening brightly as contrast. We stood there for what felt like 30 minutes of silence. Before he spoke again “ I’m Levi your mate but I’m guessing by the look in your eyes you already know that.” I swallowed hard a lump building in my throat “ Mmmm mate” I responded absolutely terrified. He closed the distance between us before planting a soft gentle kiss against my head. “It’s okay you never have to be afraid of me, your my mate I would never hurt you”. I was lost for words this couldn’t be happening not again his words no longer computing trying my best to ignore his intoxicating scent and the sparks dancing along my skin with every touch from him I cried out “NO NO NO I DONT WANT ANOTHER MATE THIS CANT BE HAPPENING AGAIN” I pushed his body away from my own as I turned and ran towards the balcony doors Trying to make my way back through the crowed to find Alissa. I wanted to go home and curl up into a ball forgetting tonight ever happened. I wanted to run far far away and never look back I just wanted to live my life I wanted no attention, no more humiliation and certainly no more mates. This couldn’t be happening maybe it was another nightmare who knows but I knew one thing I need to leave here as quickly as possible.
