CHAPTER 10As usual, the Wednesday-morning traffic on the way to O’Hare was slow-moving, particularly now that construction season was full-on. Ryan’s flight was due in at ten thirty, and Miles was still a good forty minutes out at ten o’clock. Just as Miles exited the highway onto the O’Hare spur, his phone rang. Ryan was just outside the baggage claim. Miles’s timing turned out to be perfect. When Miles pulled up, he was surprised to see Ryan with two large suitcases and a backpack in tow. “Planning to stay awhile, I see,” Miles teased. “Just prepared for all Wisconsin weather contingencies,” Ryan shot back. He’s not planning to return to New York any time soon, Miles thought. They squeezed Ryan’s luggage into the trunk of Miles’s Camry, and then they were off to Lakeville. Thankfully
