CHAPTER 23The flight to Miami was sheer torture. Miles’s apprehension over Ken’s possible condition coupled with the uncomfortable middle seat he secured due to his late booking made the flight almost unbearable. Further compounding his unhappiness was the lack of a distraction. The plane’s entertainment system was out of order, and he’d forgotten to pick up a book or magazine before boarding. Even the airline’s own magazine was missing from the seat pocket. All he could do was sit there and stew. Mercifully, the flight arrived on time at 9:15 p.m. It took forty-five minutes for Miles to clear customs and leave baggage claim.
