Deception

Killian’s POV:  I felt uncomfortable tied to the tree. I was sure Sinead was feeling the same way. I wondered how we were going to get ourselves out of this mess. I pulled and struggled against the tight ropes confining me to this spot.  “Do you have a plan, Sinead?” I asked her, trying to look over my shoulder in her direction.   “Yes, I do” Sinead replied.  “Well, what is it?” I asked, still struggling against the ropes.  “We need to send a signal to the Blessed Moon Pack,” Sinead answered.  “How are we going to do that? They are still so far away.” I pointed out with confusion.  “I only said they were far away to keep those rouges away from the blessed moon pack. They were easy enough to deceive.” Sinead informed me of her small and clever deception.  “That’s fantastic, Sinead. So, what’s the signal?” I asked her.  “Two howls should be right,” Sinead told me. “It will alert their Guardians to our whereabouts, we should be close to the edge of their territory.”   Sinead threw her head back and made two long howls in succession. She was able to do this in human form very well. Clearly, wolf form was not a possibility at the moment. We waited together for quite some time before we heard two howls in response.   “It’s them, they are coming.” Sinead said happily.  Suddenly I felt nervous again. This was a new pack. How were they going to treat me? I mean I was happy that someone was on their way to rescue Sinead and I, but I still felt unsatisfactory as a werewolf. Being in a pack would be an adjustment for me. I had always pictured myself as a lone wolf. I had no one except Sinead for my entire life up until now. How was I supposed to act around an Alpha? Sinead had taught me a few things about being in a pack, but I was going to be getting a crash course on it soon.  Out of the woods beside me came two large men. Both exactly the picture of perfection you would expect any werewolf to be. Solid muscle, tall and handsome. Not a single flaw to be seen. They moved silently up to us and cut the ropes quickly.   “Sinead, what happened?” The man with clear blue eyes and dark hair asked.  “We were attacked by rogues. They took the carriage and Kilian's wheelchair.” Sinead answered him.  “That’s terrible. I am glad you were not too far from us.” The man answered.  This was embarrassing. I would have to either pull myself along on the ground or have one of these men carry me. Neither was really an appealing option. I quickly decided I would make my own way, there was no way I was letting these guys carry me.   As soon as my ropes were cut, I felt the sweet relief of the pressure being taken off. I rubbed my wrists and examined them for any damage done by the ropes. There was none. I was fine.   “We can escort you the rest of the way,” The other man with gold eyes and brown hair told us. "Are you going to need any help Killian?”   “No, I can handle this on my own. I will follow you.” I told him.   “Alright, let’s go” the man told Sinead and I.  I used my arms to propel myself along. I’m sure I slowed them down, but I didn't need pity. When we reached the pack castle I was directed to a room. I was told I could washup before meeting the Alpha. I would have to be initiated into the pack and someone would be assigned to me to show me around. I wasn’t thrilled about having to have someone be with me constantly, but it was necessary for the first few weeks I would be there. A knock sounded at my door.   “Come in,” I said loudly.  “Hi, Killian. It’s me” Sinead said, walking into the room. “I am sorry about your wheelchair. I will bring your other one when I have a chance.”  “Thanks Sinead,” I replied.  “It’s time to meet the Alpha and find out where you will be staying,” Sinead told me. “Come with me, I will take you to Alpha Oran’s study.”  “Lead the way.” I said to Sinead.  I followed Sinead; my arms were getting tired without my wheelchair to hold my weight. My ability to move fast was greatly reduced. Sinead led me to a large room with a sliding door. I hesitated to go in.  “It’s fine Killian, Alpha Oran is a good Alpha.” Sinead tried to ease my worry.  I moved into the study, looking around for the Alpha. It didn’t take me long to sense him. I turned my head to see him standing behind a large desk. With blue eyes and light brown hair. He was an imposing man that seeped power. He had kind eyes, but they also held a hint of power. This was not a man you wanted to be on the wrong side of. His trim and fit body was deceptive. He was probably far stronger than his lean muscles suggested.   “Hello Killian, have a seat.” Alpha Oran said to me.  I noticed a chair in front of his desk and pulled myself up into the chair.  “Killian, I understand your unusual predicament. It has been brought to my attention that you have been on your own for quite some time. However, being part of a pack is important. That is why I am bringing you into this pack.” Alpha Oran stated in a deeply rich voice. Even his voice declared he was the Alpha. His tone was powerful without even trying.  “I appreciate your kindness and generosity. Alpha.” I said to him.   “When you are eighteen and you get your wolf, you will be fully integrated into the pack's mind link and pledge your loyalty to me.” Alpha Oran continued.  That part was nerve-wracking for me. What came with pledging my loyalty to him? Would it hurt being added to the mind link?  I wasn’t certain. I would just have to wait and see. Most of the other wolves never talked about it. Was I the only one that wondered about these things or worried about these things?  “Yes, Alpha,” I replied.  “You are off to a good start, Killian. Addressing me as Alpha is good. I have assigned my daughter Nuala to your orientation. She will be able to show you the school and take you to your classes. She will also introduce you to the others in the pack close to your age.” Alpha Oran told me.  I was shocked that he would entrust his own daughter to show me around. Or maybe it was because he didn’t trust me and wanted someone close to him to have a close eye on me. It could have been either.   “I have no reason to distrust you, Sinead has a very good reputation and has been a friend to our pack for a very long time.” He informed me.  He said it like he had heard what I was thinking. Had he heard what I was thinking? Or was I just being paranoid? Most likely I was just being paranoid and it was pure coincidence.   “Tomorrow you will start your studies with the other students at school. In the meantime, I would like you to meet my daughter Nuala.” Alpha Oran said to me.   He walked to the door and opened it allowing for his daughter to enter.
