Three days later, in the afternoon, Trista prepared to head back to France.
Despite having rested for a few days, she still looked terrible.
The faint dark circles under her eyes were impossible to hide, and she seemed physically drained, as if even standing required effort.
Attwater had already returned to school.
Trista urged her parents to go back, trying to keep her tone light. "Don't worry, Mom and Dad. Xander's car will be here any minute."
