I was halfway to the transport when the howl went up.
Not distress. Not alarm.
Warning.
Multiple wolves. Multiple packs. All converging on our position.
"Kade!" Dr. Chen grabbed my arm. "It's the Council. Major force. At least fifty wolves. Maybe more."
My blood ran cold. "Sera's at the safe house. I need to..."
"You need to handle this first. If the Council's here for a fight, we're all dead anyway."
