POV: Kade
I reached the safe house just as the light faded.
Not fire. Not explosion. Something else. Something that left afterimages burned into my retinas. Pure white light that had erupted from the building's center and consumed everything.
"SERA!" I was out of the truck before it stopped moving. "EMBER!"
The building was collapsing. Walls crumbling inward. Smoke and shadow mixing with that strange white light.
"Kade, wait!" The High Alpha grabbed my arm. "The structure's unstable!"
I didn't care. Ripped free. Ran toward the ruins.
Through the bond, I felt... nothing.
No Sera. No Ember. Just silence where they should be.
Terror turned my blood to ice.
"SERA!"
