POV: Kade
I threw myself between the Primordial and my daughter.
Stupid. Suicidal. But instinct overrode logic.
The creature didn't even look at me. Just waved one hand dismissively.
I flew backward. Crashed into the stone wall hard enough to crack it. Pain exploded through my ribs.
"Kade!" Sera's scream felt distant. Muffled.
Through the bond, I felt her terror. Her rage. Her absolute helplessness.
The Primordial moved closer to Ember. Each step made the torches flicker and die. Made the air itself seem to curdle.
