Chapter Six: Moonborn That night, sleep didn’t come easy. The room Damien had given her was warm, safe—but her mind was a storm. Too many questions, too many truths she didn’t understand. What kind of power was inside her? Why her? And what did the Council want? But eventually, exhaustion won. And with sleep… came the dream. She stood in a forest flooded with silver light. The trees glowed faintly, leaves shimmering like stardust. Everything was silent—peaceful—and yet, there was a pulse in the air, like the world itself was holding its breath. A figure stepped from the shadows. She was radiant—tall, ethereal, with hair like spun moonlight and eyes that mirrored the stars. Her voice was like wind and water and song. “You’ve awakened.” Aria swallowed hard. “Who are you?” “You already know.” And somehow, she did. “The Moon Goddess.” The woman smiled, though it was sad. “You were not meant to awaken this early. But fate is no longer waiting.” “What am I supposed to do?” Aria whispered. “Survive. Learn. Rise.” The goddess lifted a hand, and a glowing thread of silver unraveled between her fingers. “There is darkness hunting you. Not just for your power, but for the truth buried in your bloodline.” Aria frowned. “What truth?” The thread burned brighter, and with it came a vision—flickers of a war long past, a woman standing at the heart of it, power radiating from her skin, wolves bowing at her feet. Her face looked… almost like Aria’s. “You’ve lived before,” the goddess said softly. “Many times. Each time, they tried to end you. Each time, you returned.” Aria’s knees buckled. “Why me?” “Because your soul is a key.” “To what?” But the goddess was already fading. “Trust him, Aria. Trust the Alpha. But never forget—your power is your own. Not even fate can chain the moon.” --- She woke with a gasp, drenched in sweat, heart slamming against her ribs. The dream clung to her like a second skin. And then the door burst open. Damien stood there, shirtless, chest rising with urgency. “The Council’s here.” Aria blinked. “Now?” He nodded grimly. “They want to see you. All of them.” She swung her legs over the bed. “Why?” Damien’s eyes met hers, a flicker of pride in his voice. “Because word’s already spreading. They say the Moonborn has returned.”
