Kayla's pov.
What in the absolute f**k did I do?
I wasn't thinking straight, he was too close and I feared that he might kiss me and oh my goodness.
My hands surely have a mind of its own, why else would it slap a grown man.
Adonis’ reaction took me by surprise.
I remained in the same position after he left for over thirty minutes.
My mind was still twirling over the incident.
When I managed to stand up, I vowed not to go out for the rest of the day
It was the weekend, so there was no class for me till Monday.
That same night, I thought I would hear the sound of work, moaning to s*x.
Nothing.
His room was quiet, I even placed my ear close to the wall to be sure.
Maybe he was being really quiet about it.
I decided to enjoy my quiet night, until it was Monday morning and I had class to attend.
Stepping out of my apartment suddenly seemed like a big chore.
I was always quick to leave for class, not today.
What if Adonis was waiting right outside for me?
Ohhh crap, I hate situations like this, I didn't mean to slap him.
He made me do it, if he hadn't lingered over me like that.
Maybe, my hand wouldn't have worked in is own.
“Come on Kayla, you didn't do anything wrong. Just go out. There's nothing to fear.” I assured myself.
I stepped out, noiselessly, carefully, my door opened without a single sound.
I nearly dropped my phone when I saw Jude.
Another tenant on the same floor.
“Geez, Jude. You scared the crap out of me.” I gasped.
“Why are you walking on tiptoes?” He whispered.
Shit, I didn't even know.
“Nothing.” I whispered back.
“You are acting awfully strange you know.”
Jude was a nice neighbour, but we didn't do more than greet each other a couple times
Mostly when we bump into each other.
“Jude, do you happen to know if there's a red car outside?”
“You mean the one that belongs to Adonis.” He said aloud.
“Shhhhhh, don't be so loud” I warned him.
He did not even understand what I was getting at.
“Adonis left early this morning, which was very unlike him, maybe he traveled.”
Ohhhhhhh, I was somehow saddened by the news.
At least, I'd be safe from his vengeful paws.
“Okay Jude, see you later.”
I didn't wait for him to say more, he was obviously very interested in getting down with me.
Like I told myself before, I'm not getting down with the wolves
They are the absolute worst when searching for a partner.
Class ended quite early and I decided to grab lunch in a nearby cafeteria.
My heart skipped a beat when I thought that I saw Adonis.
It was just someone that has a similar build.
Damn, I was almost getting traumatized because of this one guy.
I grabbed my lunch from the counter.
Maybe I shouldn't eat here, just take it back to my apartment.
No.
I decided against it, the meal would get cold before I reached my hostel.
I found a spot to sit and enjoy my meal
“Hey, dimwit.” Someone thundered.
The crowd went up in an uproar as a human crashed onto his tray filled with food
His cloths got stained and he was shaking like a leaf.
I rolled my eyes in disgust, the wolves were at it again.
Why can't they just leave humans alone?
This is one of the reasons I go home straight after classes.
The harsh treatment of humans gets on my nerves and it's terrible that I can't do anything about it.
A tall guy marched up to the human guy and pulled him up by the collar.
“How many times have we warned you, this cafeteria is for the wolves.” he barked on the guys face
“I'm sorry.” The guy cried.
“I won't ever come here again, I swear.”
“Hmmmph, we just have to make an example of you to others first. Since you keep testing us.”
The human wailed and cried, no one flinched or did anything about it.
That was the natural way of things here
I would be facing the same fate if it wasn't for Hilda.
I suddenly lost my appetite, this isn't a place I should be.
“Adonis, what do you think we should do to this pesky human?”
My ears stood on end.
Adonis, he was here.
I scanned the block to be sure it wasn't some other Adonis.
The Adonis I know doesn't attend lectures.
There he was, seated at the top, in the midst of the elite wolves of the school.
Adonis appeared to be the leader as the other guy asked him what to do with the human
Fuck, I am so screwed.
If I can just slip out of the cafeteria without him noticing. I'd be really happy.
“Come lick my shoe.” Adonis ordered.
I froze, what in the world?
He doesn't really mean it right? I asked myself.
The guy stood shaking, the centre of attraction.
Adonis put one foot forward..
“Lick it, then I might consider letting you go without any scars.”
He must be some high ranked wolf, or someone of importance to the school.
Why else would he possess such power?
Phones were already out, recording the event to be posted on the school's website.
The guy went on his knees and stuck out his tongue.
I quickly looked away, I couldn't bring myself to watch it.
I pushed through the crowd, they were too busy watching the show.
“Whoahhhhhh.” They screamed.
I guess he really did lick Adonis' shoe.
I just need to get out of here, quick.
“Hey, stop right there.” A voice commanded
It was Adonis' voice, I could reco
gnise it now, after a week of listening to his mind stop grunts.
I didn't stop though, he could be calling on anybody.
“Kayla Barnes, do not take another step.”
Shit, I've been spotted.
