The Contract

Chapter 5 : The Contract Seraphina's POV A dull, throbbing pain pounded in my head as I slowly regained consciousness. My body felt heavy, my limbs weak. I let out a soft groan, my fingers twitching against something soft-a bed? Panic shot through me like lightning. My eyes flew open. The room was dimly lit, the walls made of dark stone, cold and unfamiliar. My heart pounded as I struggled to sit up. Where am I? This wasn't my pack house. This wasn't Moonlight Pack. Memories rushed back-Ronan announcing another woman as his mate. The betrayal. The pain. Then... darkness. I sucked in a shaky breath and forced myself to sit up fully, my gaze darting around the room. There was only one door. My escape. I was about to swing my legs off the bed when- Creak. The door opened. A powerful presence filled the room before I even saw him. A wave of dominance crashed over me like an invisible force, making the air thick and suffocating. And then he stepped in. Tall. Broad. Powerful. His golden eyes gleamed like a predator's, sharp and assessing, piercing straight into my soul. His black hair was slightly tousled, but it did nothing to soften his harsh features. His strong jawline, high cheekbones, and the cold expression on his face made him look like a god of war-merciless and untouchable. His sheer size made me feel small. My heart slammed against my ribs. Who is this man? "Awake at last," he said, his deep voice calm yet commanding. It wasn't a question-it was a statement, as if he had control over even that. I stiffened, my hands gripping the bedsheets. "Where am I?" My voice was barely above a whisper. The man stepped closer, his movements slow and deliberate. He was in no rush. He had all the time in the world to deal with me, and that scared me more than anything. "This is Shadowfang Pack," he said. His golden eyes never left mine. "And I am Alpha Xander Blackwood." Shadowfang Pack? The most feared pack in the region. Ruthless. Unforgiving. I sucked in a breath, my stomach twisting in fear. "I want to leave," I said quickly, swinging my legs off the bed. My bare feet barely touched the ground when- Boom. Xander moved in a blur, faster than my eyes could follow. In an instant, he was in front of me, towering over me like a storm cloud ready to strike. I gasped and stumbled back. He didn't touch me, but his presence alone held me in place. His golden eyes darkened, filled with warning. "And where exactly do you plan to go, little wolf?" I swallowed hard. Back to Moonlight Pack? Back to Ronan? No. I had no place there. Ronan had made that clear. Still, I refused to back down. "That's none of your business," I said, forcing my voice to stay steady. Xander tilted his head slightly, studying me. Then, he let out a low, amused chuckle. "Interesting," he murmured, more to himself than to me. Then, without another word, he pulled out a stack of papers from his coat and tossed them onto the table beside me. A pen followed, the metallic click of the cap opening making my pulse quicken. "Sign it," he commanded. I frowned, my eyes darting to the papers. Hesitantly, I picked them up and read the first line. CONTRACT AGREEMENT The Contractor: Alpha Xander Blackwood The Contractee: Seraphina Mooncrest My hands trembled slightly. How does he know my full name? I looked up at him sharply, my throat tightening. "How do you know who I am?" A slow smirk tugged at his lips, but his eyes remained sharp. "I know everything I need to know." A chill ran down my spine. I forced my attention back to the contract and continued reading. Contract Conditions: 1. Absolute Obedience – Seraphina must obey Xander's commands at all times, both in public and private. Disobedience will have consequences. 2. No Contact with Moonlight Pack – She is forbidden from reaching out to Ronan or anyone from her old pack. If caught, the contract will be void, and she will face punishment. 3. Public Display of Affection – She must act as Xander's true mate in front of others, which includes holding hands, kissing, and staying close to him. 4. Pack Loyalty – She is considered a member of Shadowfang Pack for the duration of the contract. If she betrays the pack, she will be dealt with as a traitor. 5. No Escape – Any attempt to run away will result in severe punishment. 6. Sleeping Arrangements – She must sleep in Xander's room. Whether she sleeps on the bed or the floor depends on her behavior. 7. Territorial Marking – Xander has the right to leave his scent on her so no other wolves challenge their fake bond. 8. tTraining and Discipline – She will be punished if she humiliates or disobeys him in public. 9. Duration – The contract lasts six month. It is violated before then, and there are repercussions. 10. Final Word – Only Xander can say when the contract is complete My stomach dropped. My grip on the paper tightened. My eyes shot up to his. "What the hell is that?" Xander crept closer slowly, his heat nearly brushing against me. "It means you'll do what I tell you," he snarled, his tone low and menacing. "You'll be at my side, act like my mate, and follow my orders. And for that, you'll have my protection." My wolf within me stirred restlessly. I clenched my teeth. "And what if I say no?" Xander's smirk disappeared. His golden eyes darkened, full of something cold. "Then you are free to leave," he said. His voice was even, but the seriousness behind it sent another shiver down my spine. "But hear this-outside these walls, you have no pack. No mate. No one to protect you. Do you think you will last a week before someone rips your throat out? "What if I am here, is there anyone to guard me?" "Maybe I.... Atleast you would be my fake mate... my fake mate is still my mate and I am in charge" I took a shaking breath. He was correct. I had no place to go. No one to go to. I looked down at the contract, my vision becoming a little hazy. I did not want this. I did not want any of this. But I did not have a choice. I held the pen in my trembling hands. No sooner did I sign than Xander snatched the documents away and shoved them back into his coat. He then glared at me with something wicked in his golden eyes. "Welcome to Shadowfang, wolf."
