Chapter Six My encounter with Gustova still left me frazzled. I hated it that we met in such a messy situation and he ended up being the one that saved me. I was still pondering on what I was going to tell Alpha Benjamin when a sharp knock shocked me from my thoughts. ‘That's rude.’ My wolf said and I couldn't agree less. “Who is there?” I asked in a tone that showed I was displeased. There was no answer from the other end and the silence caused me to worry. My kids Lauren and Laurent were fast asleep in the joined room and my motherly instinct to protect them kicked in, as I opened the door. Standing in front of my hotel room, with his beta by his side was Gustavo Hulio. “How did you find me?” I asked, already knowing the answer to my question. “I own this hotel, I own this city and I want you to look me in the eyes and lie to me one more time.” Gustavo looked at me in the eyes, his gaze making me feel uncomfortable. “What do you want, Gustavo?” I asked, starting to get irritated. “Where are my kids?” He asked, this time around, I had a feeling that he was not going to believe my lies and he already knows the truth. “I told you already, I got rid of t—” I was interrupted with a savage growl from Gustavo who had his phone screen in my face, showing me a picture of myself with Lauren and Laurent. “Please, do not lie to me Camille, I have the right to be a part of my children's lives.” Gustavo said, while holding me in the depth of his green eyes. I melted under his gaze and for a moment I forgot how badly he had treated me, his rejection and betrayal which still stung like a bee, caused me to chuckle at his attempt to sugar coat his way back into my heart. “You told me to get rid of them, you told me that you wanted nothing to do with me. How dare you walk in here and ask to be a part of their lives when you wanted them dead.” “Camille, I can explain.” Gustavo said as he signaled to his beta to give us privacy. “There is nothing to explain Gustavo, you have no children with me.” I said adamantly. After being unable to get through to me, I noticed a switch in Gustavo's behavior and he became violent, pushing me aside roughly to enter my hotel room. “Where are they? Where the f**k are my pups?” He asked, searching the room thoroughly. I had never seen him this angry and desperate and my heart was beating loudly in my chest as I feared he would sniff them out and take them away from me. “Gustavo please, please leave.” My eyes began to tear up as I silently blamed Alpha Benjamin for putting me in this situation to be having a confrontation with Gustavo. Gustavo stared at me, and there was a sizzling chemistry between us that even I could not deny. As he approached me, I took a healthy step backwards, not wanting to fall for his touch and his sweet words. The kiss from earlier still haunted me and the warmth of his lips reminded me of how he tasted. “If you would only let me explain what happened that night, you will realize that I am not the enemy.” Gustavo said, his words poking me from the inside out. “Please leave Gustavo.” I said in a tone of finality. Gustavo did leave, but before he did, he made sure to remind me of where I was and how he owned the damn city. “You are in my city, and Canada is my home. I came to you first, but you turned me down. I will find my children, and when I do, you will be left with nothing.” I was terrified by what he said, because I knew that according to pack laws, I was obligated to hand over my babies to the Alpha of the Redwood pack. The moment I was certain that he had left with his beta, I hurried to the next room, waking Lauren and Laurent up. “Mummy, is it morning yet?” Lauren said, still groggy from sleep. There was no time for me to come up with a lie as to why we were leaving Canada in the middle of the night, so I resorted to ignoring her innocent question. “Laurent, go get your bags, we are going back to London.” Laurent pulled the wheels of his tiny suitcase and I helped Laurent with hers. I made use of the stairway where there were no CCTV cameras to exit the hotel building. I did not want to take any chances and end up losing my children to Gustavo. I placed a call to Beta Frank, telling him to book us tickets as the cab drove us to the airport. “Mummy, why are we going back to England, I don't want to go…” Lauren said, with teary eyes. “England is our home baby, you have school and I have work.” I said, trying to convince her. While we waited at the airport for our flight, I felt eyes poking holes on my back. I knew instantly that I was being followed. “Seat Number 102,” I heard the intercom call out the number on my plane ticket and I panicked. I hurried towards the entrance of the plane, but I was not fast enough because standing in front of me, blocking my way, was beta Gerald. “Get the f*****g hell out of my way Gerald!” I said, but my words did not faze him. “I cannot do that.” He said adamantly. I held onto Lauren and Laurent tightly, as my wolf growled deep inside my throat. “Camille.” The deep baritone voice of Gustavo called me from behind and my blood ran cold. I turned to stare at him, and was shocked when Lauren let go of my hand and rushed to stand by his side, raising her tiny neck to look at him in the eyes. “Daddy, are you my daddy?” She asked him, her tiny hands, holding onto his legs. Gustavo bent to meet her at her level, and beamed. “Yes, yes I am. I am your daddy and I will not be letting you go back to England.” He said, and Lauren smiled excitedly. All my plans to escape back to England went down the drain, as Laurent also let go of me and rushed to go stand beside Gustavo.
