I picked Thea up from the floor. She and Iris were sat side by side staring at the dead wolf.
Ashton had taken Felicity outside. She had burst into tears and was shaking with the adrenaline of it all. I had been more impressed with Ashton’s coolness that I expected to be.
We met Luna Rose in the hall, she and Mum each had a twin in their arms. I put Thea down and let her get her fill of the pups. She looked so much better after a cuddle. My stupid heart seized that I couldn’t give her that of her own.
“I’ve arranged rooms for everyone in the guest wing, the usual ones. I assume you will want your room?”
Thea nodded and took my hand. She led me along the corridor and into her room. I closed the door behind us and took her in my arms.
