It was all going too easily. We heard Thea’s raised voice and raced to find her, dispatching two warriors on route. I could tell from Edward’s face that while he was expecting us, we had arrived quicker then he expected. I was too slow to move when I saw him tussle for some bottles that had fallen on the floor. Just as I got close he smashed one at my feet and I jumped back out of the way from the glistening liquid.
If I had only thought to jump forwards instead of back I would have found myself trapped on the other side.
I didn’t want to touch the shield but Luke had no such concerns pounding on it with a ferocity I hadn’t seen from him before.
