Alpha Dimitri kept his eyes on the road, one large hand resting casually against the steering wheel. His reply came after a moment. “Taking a driver on a journey to find answers to an age-old secret illness won’t exactly be wise, now would it?”
I fell silent.
He was right.
We were traveling in search of answers that witches guarded fiercely. Bringing unnecessary people into something so risky would serve no purpose.
The irony wasn’t lost on me.
Alpha Dimitri was searching for the truth about his illness while I sat beside him, hiding truths of my own.
I swallowed hard and lowered my gaze to my hands. “No, Alpha.”
The miles passed quietly as Bloodfang slowly gave way to winding roads and smaller towns scattered throughout the territory.
