Raven/ Scarlett’s POV
“Are you ready to pay the price, Alpha Dimitri?” She finished.
Silence followed her question. No one spoke. Even the warm, inviting atmosphere of the chamber suddenly felt tense as I waited for Alpha Dimitri’s answer.
I held my breath, my hands tightening in my lap as I stood beside him.
Alpha Dimitri had gone completely still. His expression remained unreadable, his jaw set as he stared at Mother without saying a word.
Something about this felt wrong. The secret growing inside me suddenly felt heavier than ever. If things went badly here, I had far more to lose than just my own life.
“Yes,” he said calmly. “I am familiar with the ways. I am willing to pay the price.”
