My mind refused to settle.
I stood rooted where I was, barely aware of the healers moving around me. Elegant gowns swept across the polished floors, tailored suits drifted in and out of my vision, and voices rose and fell in excited conversation, but it all blurred into meaningless noise.
What if Lucan recognized me?
What if the short ginger-red hair and the ruined skin on my neck weren’t enough?
What if he saw through Scarlett Bane and realized the woman standing before him was the Luna he had thrown away?
What if he sensed the child I carried?
