I stood frozen in place, heart hammering so hard against my ribs I was sure the entire room could hear it.
Unease rippled through the room. Some of the healers tightened their grip on clipboards or tablets, while others exchanged wary glances before quickly looking away. No one spoke. The only sounds were the quiet hum of the lights overhead and the pounding of my own heart.
