Emera pulled up in front of the little cafe on main St. She knew that Will would be there about now. He always ended there for a hot cup of Joe after checking in at Burt's Hardware store. Will and Burt were old friends and had been in town for longer then she could remember. They also happen to be the only humans that also knew about the pack. Her father thought it would be wise to let the local law enforcement know about them so that they could head off any trouble before it happened. So far it had been a wise opinion, they had helped in multiple occasions.
When they got out of the truck Leanna asked if she could go a few stores down and look at some new dresses.
"What?" exclaimed Grant, "That is why you wanted to come?" Leanna glared at him and let out a low growl. Emera glared at him. She had had a feeling that was what Leanna had wanted to do anyway.
"Sure Leanna, go ahead. Grant you go with her." His head shot up and he let out a growl and snarl at the alphas idea. She just looked at him, her eyes almost glowing, the power radiating off of her made the boy cringe. He submitted and without another word led Leanna away to the cloths store. The alpha snarled, she was going to have to talk to him about his behavior. His maleness was getting the best of him lately. 'Maybe an extra mandatory training session would help get read of some of that built up testosterone,' she thought to herself and watched the young wolf disappear into one of the doors along the street.
She walked into the cafe and opened the door. Just as she had expected Will was settled in at the counter drinking a cup of hot coffee.
"I had a feeling you would be coming by to see me today,” he slid a mug of hot coffee towards her.
"Thanks Will," she gratefully accepted the mug and took a long drink of the steaming dark liquid.
"So what do we know about him?" she asked, "Is there more than one? Do I have to worry about anything?"
Will chuckled, "Have you met him?"
"Not exactly, it seems like fate is working against me, I haven't even seen what he looks like yet," she took another long drought of coffee. Will raised his eyebrows and wiggled them at her. "Oh geeze Will," she tried to hide a grin, "Do you have any information or not? It been a long morning." He decided it was best not to draw it out anymore, he could tell the alpha was at her wits end this morning anyway.
"Well, Burt and I met him at the store this morning, turns out that he has purchased the old Cartwright property up there next to yours." Emera almost choked on the coffee she had been drinking.
"Great!" she growled, almost making Will spill his coffee.
"I think he plans on setting down roots too, and I don't think he is much of a hunter, said it really wasn't for him. Just interested in a little peace and quiet," the sheriff studied the alpha for a minute. "As the town sheriff and a friend my opinion for you is to just go introduce yourself."
"I'll think about it,” she sighed, "Oh and one more thing," she took a deep breath, "It’s been decided that I need to find a mate so...." The coffee that the sheriff had been drinking flew out of his nose as he snorted and she glared at him.
"Holy Hell!" he bellowed with laughter and then noticed her eyes glowing and stopped in his tracks.
"Not my idea," she said glumly then continued, "Unfortunately, because of this there will be a bunch on testosterone driven male werewolf’s prancing around my property in an absurd fashion, trying desperately to get my attention for the next few months." The sheriff was speechless and just stared at her. "With everything that is going on I just thought that you and Burt should know and tell you both to not let anyone know that you know about us." Will finally swallowed and then took a deep breath. "Not all alphas have the same views as I do or my father did,” she continued, " I will make sure everyone knows our pack rules, and I hope that we have no issues."
"Thanks for the heads up," he said meekly. He now knew why she was on guard about Alex moving onto the property, so close by. She finished the last few drinks of her coffee and stood up.
"Always a pleasure Sheriff," she sighed and walked out the door and toward the clothes store down the street.
She looked in the window and noticed Grant setting in a chair in the back, eyes closed, opening the door she heard his soft rumbling snore. Silently giggling to herself she devised a plan, ' he really needed to learn a thing or two before he was ready to join the Elites' she thought. She snuck in the door and quietly found Leanna who was still looking at dresses. She waved to the girl to be quiet and follow her outside.
"What's up?" Leanna looked at the alpha questioningly when they got outside.
"Let's go to the grocery store across the street and get the rest of the items of Cookies list."
The girl looked crushed, "I still haven't found a dress yet," she said quietly.
"Well come back and look in a bit," Emera told her.
"What about Grant, should we wake him?"
"No, I think he should stay right where he is at. It'll teach him a lesson about falling asleep on the job." The girl giggled and followed her across the street to the grocery store. Half way across the street her wolf picked up a familiar scent. Looking around she notice the big black truck she had seen this morning and the night before parked outside of the hardware store. She was distracted by the truck and thoughts of the mysterious stranger inside that she almost ran straight into the metal street sign on the sidewalk. Leanna grabbed her just in time and pulled her back and out of her mental funk.
"Thanks,” she looked to the girl who seemed quite confused. She had never seen her alpha so, clumsy, before. "I’m okay," she said, " Honestly Leanna, I just have a lot on my mind right now." They finished the walk to the store and went in. "Grab a cart," she huffed, "We need twenty pounds of the butcher bacon in the back, and they should have a big box of beef bones saved for us. Also Doc needs another box of gloves, and Ryan needs some hair gel." The girl grinned and started walking down the aisles collecting items.
Leanna stopped by the cosmetic aisle and looked at the various items. She didn't need any makeup, no wolf ever did. For the most part they were born with the luck of flawless skin and dark lashes. In human standards most pack females would be considered beautiful, but in werewolf standards she was considered 'homely', or at least she thought she was. She peered around the corner of the aisle at her alpha. She wished she looked like her. The alpha was absolutely breath taking by both human and werewolf standards.
Commotion at the front of the store snapped her out of her day dream and back to reality.
"LEANNA!" Emera yelled for her. She left the basket in the aisle and ran out front, ready for anything. She noticed the alpha looking out the window watching a large brown wolf run down the middle of the road dodging in and out of traffic.
"Oh, no!" Leanna yelped and looked to her alpha waiting for a command.
"I guess we should have left him in the truck," Emera threw out as she bolted out the door, followed closely by Leanna. A sharp whistle filled the air as she went about getting the wolfs attention. When he was looking at her she snapped her fingers and pointed to the ground right in front of her. The entire time she starred directly into his eyes, not blinking, not looking away, at that moment it was just her and the wolf.
Leanna walked around the other side and helped to herd him forwards toward the alpha. After a few minutes the wolf was laying on the ground in front of her. She sent out a thick cloud of power preventing Grant from changing back to his human form. 'Maybe I'll make him stay this way for a while, he has been nothing but a handful today,’ she thought to herself and huffed.
"Leanna please go back to the store and finish the shopping", she quietly told the girl. "I’m going to take him back to the truck and drive over to get you. We will have to go dress shopping later." The girl hung her head but quickly went into the store to collect the few items that they need, she hoped that the alpha wasn't too hard on Grant, after all they did leave him sleeping in the dress store and disappeared. He might of over reacted just a little though she smirked at the thought.

Alex was just about to jump out of the truck when he heard the commotion across the street. Looking over he saw an enormously large brown dog running out of the clothes store and being chased by to frazzled looking women who were throwing shoes as it. He watched in amazement as the dog dodged in and out of traffic causing traffic to screech to a stop in the road. He was about to go get the dog when he noticed two women run out of the grocery store. It stopped him dead in his tracks, they were both gorgeous. One looked to be around eighteen, about 5'5" with light brown hair and honey colored eyes. She was wearing sandals and cut off blue jeans that accentuated her long legs and a red and white checkered top that hung low off her shoulders. Alone the young woman would have turned heads. But it was the other one that caught his attention. She was mesmerizing. All he could do was stare at her, his mouth hung open and he knew there was a goofy grin on his face. He felt an unbelievably strong desire for her, he was drawn to her like no one he had ever known before. She was fairly tall, close to 5'9"/5' 10" with long blond hair that fell in soft waves down her back and framed her face. Her soft rose colored lips contrasted beautifully with her golden tan skin. And her eyes were the most beautiful, vibrant and alluring emerald green color. She had on blue jeans, that in his opinion fit perfectly, 'she could probably wear anything and it would be perfect,' he thought.
He was snapped out of his day dream by a sharp whistle. The dogs head snapped around and found the woman standing there. It stopped and just stood there starring at her, and she just starred at it. Since the dog had finally stopped he was able to get a good look at it.
"What the hell!" he jumped "that’s not a dog. That’s a wolf!" The first thought he had was to get out and rescue that beautiful blond and he tensed when he noticed the wolf walking slowly over to the women. He held his breath and watched as the wolf lay down at her feet. 'This is the craziest thing I have ever witnessed,’ he rubbed his head and let out the breath that he had been holding.
He heard the women tell the other girl to finish the shopping and she would be by to pick her up in a few minutes. He sat in the car and tried to comprehend what just happened. All he knew was that he felt drawn to her and needed to find out who she was. He jumped out the truck and headed into the store, following the girl, maybe she would give him some of the information’s he now needed to know.
