Chapter 4

1238 Words
Standing in the mouth of a dark cave was a white wolf. The wolf was absolutely beautiful with snow white fur and bright green eyes that seem to glow in the blackness of the cave. The wolf just stood there looking out at a large black wolf that stood on the top of a hill a few hundred yards away. The large black wolf was as dark as the blackest sky with bright blue glowing eyes. The need for them to reach each other was absolutely over whelming, but no matter how they tried neither of them could get anywhere near the other... ______________________________________________________________________________ Alexander woke up and scratched his head, 'what a weird dream', he thought then looked at his watch. 5:00 a.m. 'Just enough time to make some coffee then go for a run' he climbed out of bed pulled on his jean and shoes before heading out of the tent. He stoked the fire and went in search of his coffee pot, coffee and a pair of track pants. After a few minutes of rummaging through stuff he gave up and settled for a granola bar and some water. He grabbed his duffle bag and carried it back to the tent, found a pair of track pants and changed then took off at a steady pace down the over grown driveway. The sun was starting to come up and the cool morning air kept him energized. ______________________________________________________________________________ Emera woke up in a sweat. That was the weirdest most intense dream she had ever had. Her wolf was still pacing in the back ground and wanted to go and find the wolf that had been in her dream. She looked over at her alarm clock, 5:00 a.m. 'Wow' she had slept in, 'if I get out of bed now I might just be able to get in a quick run before heading to town.' She rolled out of bed and grabbed her track pants and running shoes from the coach where she had tossed them the night before. She pulled them on and quickly grabbed a light jacket before running out the door and into the hall way. The house was quiet, except for the shuffling she heard coming from Ryan’s room at the end of the hall. She gently tapped on the door, "Ryan?" she called to him knowing he was awake. "Yea Boss!" She opened the door just as he was walking out of the bathroom. Water glistened on his sandy blond hair and his dark brown eyes shined as he smiled at her. His dimple deepened as he realized he had caught her off guard. She turned bright red and looked away. “Put a shirt on already," she huffed. He smiled and grabbed a black Tee from the back of a chair. She turned back and watched him as he slowly slipped it over his head. His arm muscles flexed as he walked the shirt down his perfectly chiseled chest and beautifully sculpted abs. He smiled at her again and waited patiently for her to stop admiring him. He loved all of the attention, and Emera realized what she was doing and gasped, “I’m going for a run. Will you let Cookie know we need his list by the time I get back? Also collect the wolfs I'm taking to town and get the truck ready, we leave in an hour." She had embarrassed herself and needed to get out of there. "Yes boss!" he chuckled as she turned and ran out of his room and on her way for a run. She could smell the bacon sizzling in the kitchen as Cookie was getting ready for the day. Running past the kitchen she poked her head in to say hello. "Hey Cookie!" she liked the old grease ball of a wolf, he had been around since her father had been alpha of the pack. "Hey Emera, going on a run?" "Yep, have that list to Ryan in an hour if you can please." "Will do, see you in a few." Emera took off out the back door and across the court yard training area, around the house and up the trail toward the north barracks. The trail looped up and around the back of the barracks then split to go down around the pack house on the right or up on the left it took you in a large loop and ran through the family cabins, the farm and then around the far barracks, coming back around and the south barracks ending at the pack house. The whole loop was about a two or three-mile circle. She could run it and be back at the pack house in time to shower and head to town. About an hour later she came running back up the front steps. Ryan was calling out a few orders to a couple of the others with him and ran over when he noticed her. "Everything is ready to go Em," "Great, tell everyone to grab a quick breakfast. We leave in fifteen." "Sounds good," Ryan ran back to the others and Emera headed to her room. Stripping off her sweaty clothes she jumped in the shower. Ten minutes later she was washed, dried, dressed and heading to her truck. The other pack members that were going with her were close behind and they too jumped in the other provided trucks. Ryan rasped on the window and she rolled it down. "Here's the list from Cookie. It’s like eight pages long." He handed her the small book. 'WOW,' she mouthed, "You would think we were going to be feeding an army!" "Well we kind of are there Em. Who knows how many of the werewolf’s communities 'most eligible bachelors' are going to be invading our little pack out here in the sticks." "Don't remind me," she grumbled and put her truck into drive speeding down the drive way. 'Sometimes I could just skin that over grown fur butt,' she laughed and turned on the music for her 30-minute drive into town. ______________________________________________________________________________ After his quick run, down his over grown driveway and back he got busy cleaning out his truck. "Now for the hard stuff," he sighed and laughed. Irwin sure wanted to make it so he had everything he would possibly need. He opened the tail gate and just smiled as he started to pull everything out. About half an hour later he looked around and the massive quantity of stuff that he had. As he had gone he stacked everything into two piles, one for stuff he could use right now and the other was stuff that he wouldn't need until he got the little cabin livable. He looked back at his truck and closed the tailgate. Now that everything was gone through and sorted he had an idea on where to start. He defiantly needed a few items, and decided there was no time like the present. He ducked into his tent to change, kicked some dirt over the coals in the fire pit, and jumped into the truck to head to town. As he pulled up to the end of the driveway he watched as a group of big black trucks drove by. "Hmm, I guess I fit in with the locals," he chuckled to himself and waited for them all to pass before pulling out behind them on the main road.
