Amelia got cheated

1362 Words
Let me go, I want to live! Amelia Vance was begging for her life. But standing right in front of her was the man she trusted the most—her boyfriend, Mark Sterling. Amelia never expected to see him in such a cruel condition. Amelia was a 23-year-old girl who was supposed to get married today, but instead of taking her to the wedding venue, Mark had brought her to a lonely ditch in the silence of the night. Amelia had thought that maybe he would express his love to her one last time, but Mark refused. Without a second thought, he shot her in the chest. At this moment, Amelia was kneeling near the ditch. Mark, wearing a black suit, smiled coldly at Amelia after seeing her condition and sneered, "What made you think I would marry you, Amelia? No, that's not possible in this lifetime. Have you seen yourself in the mirror? How fat and ugly you look? I just pretended to love you to get your property transferred to my name." Amelia was shocked to hear Mark's words. She hadn't signed any property papers, so what property was he talking about? Then, Amelia remembered that Mark had given her some papers to sign earlier that morning, claiming they were marriage documents. She had signed them blindly, realizing now that Mark had completely cheated her to steal her property. Amelia's eyes filled with hot tears. She looked at Mark and said with fierce anger, "Mark, I will never forget this betrayal. I will definitely take revenge on you for this." Mark scratched his head with the gun, smiled lightly at Amelia, and said, "You'll only take revenge when you're alive, darling." Saying this, Mark came forward and kicked her hard in the chest, pushing her straight into the deep ditch. Amelia's hands waved helplessly in the air, tears streaming down her face. Today, wearing a white dress, she had dreamed of marrying Mark. But in return, Mark gave her death, dressed in that very white suit which he himself had made for her. Was a two-year relationship just a game for him to cheat and ruin her? Amelia had only asked for his love, but in return, she received death. Amelia fell down into the ditch, colliding with sharp stones and trees before finally landing among thick bushes. Her eyes were swollen, slowly closing as her vision blurred into darkness. In the quiet horror of the night, she thought she wouldn't survive; her death seemed certain. Yet, deep down, a tiny part of her still hoped someone would come and save her. Just then, Amelia heard the sound of footsteps. She tried hard to open her eyes, but could not see clearly. Through the haze, she only saw a very tall and broad-shouldered boy, wearing nothing but pants. The boy gently removed the bushes that had fallen over Amelia, brushed away the hair scattered across her face, and saw her skin shining softly in the moonlight. He narrowed his deep black eyes, studying her intensely. As if trying to glimpse her future, the boy picked her up in his strong arms and walked away with long strides into a luxurious bungalow built deep within the forest, laying Amelia gently down on a velvet bed. The boy stepped back from Amelia and raised both his hands. As he did, the surrounding atmosphere grew intensely loud, and nearby birds began to screech frantically. As if this boy was pulling the very soul out of her surroundings—this mysterious figure was none other than Zane Miller, an intelligence operative. A blinding light began to appear around Zane. There was so much radiance in the room that if a normal person had opened their eyes to look at it, they would have likely gone blind on the spot. Zane extended his hand, and a bright ball of pure light materialized. Without a moment's delay, Zane directed the brilliant light straight toward Amelia. Amelia jolted upwards as the light surged into her body, as if she were being forcefully pulled back from the dead. Zane then stepped forward and removed the garments from Amelia's body without hesitation. He began running his hands over her skin. Miraculously, where there were severe injury marks moments ago, nothing remained. Even the gunshot wound had vanished without a trace. Two months later... Amelia was constantly tossing and turning. Even shifting her position had become difficult; her body felt stiff, as though the life had barely returned to it. Suddenly, flashes of what Mark had done to her rushed back into her mind. Remembering that nightmare, Amelia woke up with a sharp scream, "No, Mark, don't hit me!" Amelia's eyes filled with tears as she anxiously looked around. She was so weak that she couldn't sit up straight and collapsed back onto the bed. She desperately wanted to get up and leave, but her body felt utterly drained. Just then, the door clicked open, and a young man stood in front of her. It wasn't Zane, but his younger brother, who looked an exact carbon copy of him. It was clearly Leo. Leo glared at Amelia and snapped, "Why did you have to scream so loudly? Even if you had screamed softly, I still would have come." Amelia gestured to him with her hand, calling him closer. Leo found this gesture very strange; making an annoyed face, he retorted, "I am not your servant that you'll snap your fingers or gesture at me like that!" Amelia rasped, "I want to drink water... give me water." She had been feeling short of breath and dehydrated for quite some time, and her voice sounded rough. Leo understood her condition and handed her a glass of water. Once she drank, he crossed his arms and asked bluntly, "Which caste or background do you belong to, and who exactly are you?" Hearing Leo's words, Amelia stared at him in disbelief, thinking he was playing some kind of sick joke. What is going on? She scratched her head, wondering if she had died and somehow reached heaven. No, her deeds weren't pure enough for God to send her to paradise. Shaking off all those confusing thoughts, she finished the water and looked up at Leo, asking, "Am I alive?" Leo stared at her incredulously. Was he hired to keep her alive for two months just to hear this foolish question? Leo replied sharply, "Well, yes, you're alive. But if you don't tell me who you are and everything about yourself right now, I swear I can kill you." She was alive! That meant she was finally getting a second chance to pursue her vengeance. A fierce confidence ignited in her eyes, fueling a burning desire to destroy her enemies. She whispered to herself, I will take my revenge. Just then, Amelia instinctively covered her ears as she heard the terrifying, loud screams of animals echoing from outside. It sounded as though a massive pack of wild beasts was heading straight toward them. Amelia's heart dropped, thinking her death was certain once again as the heavy footsteps drew closer. Noticing Leo calmly looking outside, Amelia asked in sheer panic, "Is some wild animal going to come in and eat us?" Leo made a dry face and scoffed, "Even if a wild beast came here to eat you, it would run away in embarrassment." Hearing this, Amelia looked at him in complete confusion. "Why would it run away?" "Because you've become so painfully skinny," Leo replied coolly. "It looks like you'll collapse if I give you even a gentle push." Amelia stared at him as if he had lost his mind. How could he say that? After all, she had always been fat and unappealing—that was why people despised her. When Mark came into her life, she thought he actually cared for her, but in the end, he proved her right about how ugly she truly was. How could Amelia ever believe Leo's words? She told him bitterly, "I'm not skinny, I'm ugly." Leo looked at her with an amused smirk. "Wait a minute," he said. "Let me show you the mirror of truth."
