Amelia's surprise

Leo brought a large mirror and placed it in front of Amelia. Amelia, who used to look fat and ugly, looked at herself in the mirror. She couldn't believe that the person she saw in the mirror was actually her. Amelia had a shocked expression on her face. She touched her face and began to examine her body. She could clearly see that her body was covered only by a sheet instead of clothes, but through it, she could clearly see her transformed figure. She had become much thinner than she used to be. Even the blemishes on Amelia's face had completely disappeared. She looked even better than before, like an angel.

Amelia was looking at herself as if she were gazing at a beautiful stranger. She could not believe her eyes. Then Leo called out to her, "What happened? Have you seen how thin you are?"

Amelia immediately snapped out of her trance and started panicking. Looking at her body, she said to Leo, "No, this can't be me. There must be something wrong with me."

Leo started making faces and said to Amelia, "What is wrong? Something wrong has happened to me! I served you day and night, and that too because my brother forced me to do it."

Hearing Leo say "day and night," Amelia began to wonder how long she had actually been here. She asked in a low voice, "How long have I been here? How long has it been since I came here...?"

Leo held up two fingers and said to Amelia, "You've been here for two months and four days, and today makes it five." Amelia was shocked, wondering what it meant to be unconscious or trapped here for two months. She placed a hand on her chest, trying to calm her pounding heart. She couldn't express her feelings.

Amelia was still unable to understand whether she was alive or dead. Leo, probably enraged by her continued questions, said to her, "Calm down. I know you want answers now, which is why I am telling you everything." Leo gestured for Amelia to sit on the bed. As Amelia lay down on the bed, Leo explained, "That night, Zane went searching for some food and saw you falling down a ditch, so he brought you here. I followed him, and in return, he punished me by making me take care of you."

Amelia began to think after listening to Leo. This meant God had given her a chance to take revenge on her enemies. Anger flashed in Amelia's eyes, and she thought to herself, "I will go back. First of all, I will find out who all are involved in that fraudster's plan."

Leo saw that Amelia was deep in thought and asked her, "What happened? What are you thinking?" Amelia regained her composure and said to Leo, "Thank you for saving me. I want to meet your brother and thank him."

Leo took a deep breath and said, "Right now it is 10 in the morning; my brother will only come in the evening or at night." Amelia's face turned sad, and she said, "Oh, I thought I would meet him and leave. Well, I will come back some other time to thank him, but I must leave now. I have a lot of unfinished business."

Before Leo could say anything, Amelia took two steps forward and fell to the floor with a loud thud. Leo put his hand on his head, breathed a sigh of relief, and muttered, "It's a good thing she didn't try to go further, otherwise..."

Amelia couldn't understand what Leo meant by those words, but she didn't want to dwell on it either. She weakly called out to him, "Help me get up." Leo immediately came forward, took Amelia's hand, helped her up, and sat her back on the bed, saying, "You need to eat. I'll bring you some fruit."

As soon as Leo mentioned food, Amelia felt a wave of hunger and began to wonder how she—someone who loved to eat—had survived without food for two months. It was obvious she had been given some kind of medicine or healing herbs. Still, she wanted to be sure, so as Leo was leaving, she asked, "How much medicine was used to keep me alive? I mean, how much did it cost?"

Leo returned with the fruit. He placed it in front of Amelia and said with a smile, "There's no need for that. We have many herbs that can heal humans naturally. Just look at you—even though my brother was shot in the chest, he still saved you. But I honestly wonder why my brother saved you in the first place." Amelia asked, "What's so surprising about that? Your brother must be a good person."

Leo started laughing, finding the thought amusing. "No, that's your misunderstanding. To this day, my brother has never saved anyone's life without a personal benefit; he is a beast himself. If Zane has saved you, he must have some hidden plan behind it."

Amelia didn't want to hear anything more about the boy or anyone else right now. She just wanted to leave. At the same time, she was thrilled; she had tried to lose weight since childhood without success, but now she had achieved it in just two months. This meant she could take sweet revenge on the people who wronged her. By showing them her transformed, gorgeous look, she could easily execute whatever she had planned.

Leo said to Amelia, "You can relax now that you've regained consciousness, so I'm finally free." Leo had been waiting for two months for Amelia to wake up just so he could be relieved of this punishment.

Leo started to leave when Amelia called out, "Wait a minute." Hearing her voice, Leo immediately stopped and asked, "What's wrong? Do you want to ask me something?"

There was complete silence from outside, which made Amelia feel uneasy. She turned to Leo and asked, "Where are we right now? Is this room soundproof? There is no sound coming from outside."

Leo looked at Amelia and was about to reply, but then he remembered she had only regained consciousness today. Smiling gently, he said, "Just a minute, I'll open the window, and you'll understand."

Leo opened the window, and bright light streamed into the room, accompanied by the faint sounds of small animals and rustling leaves. Amelia immediately got up from the bed, steadied herself against the wall, and walked over to the window to look outside.

She saw that there was only a dense forest stretching out as far as the eye could see—nothing else was visible except trees and plants. Shocked, Amelia turned to Leo and asked, "Do you two brothers live in the forest? Which forest am I in right now?"

"Olympic National Park," Leo said with a smile.

Amelia's head began to spin, and she felt dizzy. She calmed herself down with effort and told Leo, "My town is a long way from here. The person who pushed me into the ditch... that place is far away from this forest."

Leo was getting tired of Amelia's endless questions. He said, "Just ask my brother when he comes back; he will answer your questions. I have some important work to do, so I'm leaving."

Amelia wondered why she had been kept in such a remote, dense forest. Was it some scientist who had brought her here to experiment on her? A wave of worry washed over her face, and she told herself, "I have to get out of here as soon as possible." Looking outside, she noticed the house was quiet. Taking a chance, Amelia slowly walked out of the house, supporting herself against the wall.

When she stepped outside, the warm rays of the sun fell directly on her face. For a moment, everything seemed a bit blurry. The next second, a singular thought echoed in her mind: *"Right now, I just have to get out of here. Nothing else matters."

Amelia didn't even know which direction she was heading, but all she wanted was to escape as quickly as possible.
