Bugged the Hell Out-Summers

For a year. It has been an entire year that I have waited to use the information that I was given. I know that I should have used this information before this very moment but because of them I was unable to. My breath quickens as the memories from their labs haunt me. The pain that I experienced at their hands. The loss. My feet move fast for the purpose that I need to complete. I cant let the opportunity that the dragon man gave me go to waste. I don’t even know if he is still alive. I pray that the access and information he gave is enough. I want to do right by him and all the others that need help. I even have hope that some of the humans I met during my time there have survived. I just need to find this stupid camp before the news spread. If I’m right then I need to find them before midnight. If I don’t then the bounty that will be on my head will be met sooner than later. I sigh in frustration as I chuck my way through the denseness of the forest that surrounds me. Three days that I have spent walking and I have yet to reach my destination. I look at the watch upon my wrist and see that I have about two more hours until sunset. Looking around the trees, I still don’t see the landmark that I should have run into a day ago. I take my bag off my back as I kneel down to get the map out of it. looking up, I see one of the markings from my knife on a tree and see that I have already been this way. I scream in frustration as I pinch the bridge of my nose. This journey is useless. I should have given myself more time or reached out to the alpha sooner. Tears fill my eyes as I think that I am going to fail. “Come now sweet. I was just having a wee bit of fun by changing your signs around. I wasn’t trying to make you cry” A voice says as I jump with fright. I move fast as I grab the tranquilizer g*n from my side and face the man before me. I aim the barrel of it right at his chest as he smiles at me. The pointiness of his teeth send an immediate chill down my spine. If I add that to the bright green color of his hair, well I already know that he is a fae. He puts his hands up slowly as he looks at the g*n in my hands with the quirk of a brow. The look only pisses me off more now that I know he has been hindering me from my mission. I tighten my hold on the trigger as I make sure that my aim is at his head. He must see the seriousness of the way that I hold the weapon because his smile finally disappears. “Woah there lass, you wouldn’t shoot your mate now, would ya?” he ask as he moves that damn eye brow again. I laugh as I look at him. There is no way in hell that I would ever be mated to one of these creatures. To show him just how much I don’t need his lies, I shoot to the right of his head in quick succession before bringing my weapon back at center aim. The poor bastard ducks out the way and looks at me with anger. “What the hell is your problem? A man tells you that he is promised to you and this how you go about your rejection. You could have killed me blonde” He yells as he starts to pace. “I have no mate nor will I ever. Right now you are only an obstacle between me and the dragon alpha. Now let me pass or the next shot will hit its target” I shout back as I threaten him. I smirk as he runs his hands through his hair. He can decide to test me if he wants but it will be at his own risk. I made sure that the ammo I made these darts with was enough for what I would find in this forest. I wont be at the hands of these creatures ever again. The only reason that I am here is because one of them decided to save my life. This is my way of returning the favor and then I can be done with them forever. I can go back to hiding. “What business do you have with their alpha?” he ask as his eyes flash green. The air around me flows with the scent of moss heavily. I clench my jaw at the scent. He must have a gift that has something to do with the things in this forest. If its lethal then it’s possible that I could never make it to my destination. I decide to take a few steps away from him just in case I need to run. They may have powers in the forest but I know that it’s a fact that most of their gifts don’t reach more than a few feet. “That is for me to know and for you not to find out. Will you be letting me pass or not?” I ask as I start to check the trees. If one of them starts moving then I need to be prepared. “Look here lass, I am going to say that because you have some iron in those bullets, you what I am. If you know what I am then you know about my kind. I can not tell a lie, even if I wanted to. I am not here to hurt you. I caught the scent of my mate and came to find you. I probably shouldn’t have messed with you but us Scots love a good laugh. So, why don’t you just let me help” he states as he watches me with his arms folded. “I don’t trust your kind” I tell him honestly as we watch each other. He stares at me for a long moment as if he is trying to figure something out. “We don’t trust you humans either. However, the fates seem to think that we should since some of us are mated to you. I think that we need to come to a decision on how we can work together. After all you are in our forest. Have been for three days now” He states with a straight face. I narrow my gaze at the threat in his tone as we stand off. This isn’t getting me anywhere. I look around once more at the forest as I ponder the situation I’m in. When I see him moving I release another bullet right at his foot. “Damn it lass” He yells as he jumps back from where I shot. “I was only trying to get my phone so that I could show you a sign of good faith, you see” he ask as he holds the phone up in the air. “Well, you should know better than to move when someone is aiming a weapon at you” I bite my lip to hide the grin I want to wear. The way that he jumped so uncoordinated was actually pretty funny. I’m tempted to aim another shot at his foot just to see him do it again. “Just let me dial the number and we can decide where to take it from there” he says as he starts to dial without looking at the phone. I watch as he puts it on speaker and the dial tone rings in the air between us. “Besides, I’m hoping that if I help you with your little trip that we can get to know one another” he says with a smirk. “Don’t get a head of yourself. I still wish I never ran into you in the first place” I tell him. Just as he is about to respond the phone clicks as someone answers the line. “This better be good Tinkerbell” A gruff voice answers as a baby is crying in the background. The man before me blushes as he rolls his eyes. “I’ve accosted a human spy near your territory. Apparently they seem to be looking for your alpha. I thought I would relay the message and send you our location.” He hangs up the phone as he looks at me with a quirked eyebrow. I had allowed my arm to relax a bit as I held the weapon but I point it at him with renewed force. “Now, you wait a minute lass, I just needed to get him here quickly” he says as he raises his hands again. “And here he is” A voice says behind me. I nearly jump out of my skin as I am quickly moved and disarmed. A yell fills the air as the moss scent around us gets stronger and my bottom hits the ground. I scramble to my feet as I look for the source to the voice. When I find it I freeze in fear as I come before one of the biggest men that I have ever seen. I quickly move away from him. When my back hits the body of another I find myself moving away form it too as both men stare at me as if I have lost my mind. My breath weaves in and out of my chest as I start to panic. I could have handled one of them with my weapon but now there is no way that I can handle two. This wasn’t supposed to happen. This was supposed to be an easy trip with no complications. “Woah there lass. Don’t you worry about a thing. I wont let him lay a hand on that beautiful red hair. Not one strand, you hear” the fairy man says. A growl rips from our new comer as he steps forward. The fairy man steps in front of me as he faces him. “Now beta, is that any way to treat a lass? You ought to have better manners than that” he says as I watch him fold his arms. I start to move behind him as I step away from the situation. If they want to have a go at it, well they can just leave me out of it. “You sent me out here for a spy” The large man says accusingly. “Well technically, I don’t know if she is a spy. I thought so just by her being dressed in all black and out here by here lonesome. It seems that she is my mate however and apparently has some news for your alpha. I just needed to get this out of the way so that I could get more acquainted with her” he states plainly. The fairy man steps out of the way as the other man steps closer. I stop the movement of my feet as I eye the man. He still holds my weapon at his side. “Go on and spit it out then” he commands as he approaches me. “You could say that a bit nicer. You dragon men always wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Its no wonder that you all don’t have a stick up the arse” My fairy man says to him. I chuckle as the bigger man throws him a look. Both men swing their gaze back to me as I start to fiddle with the straps of my back. I watch as the bigger man approaches the fairy and the look on his face worries me. “Look here gentlemen” Both of their heads swings to me and I realize the strength that I suddenly got behind my voice. I straighten my shoulders and look them both in the eye. “I don’t have time to sit here and watch you have a pissing match” Both men actually have the gall to look crestfallen as the words leaves my lips. I turn my attention to the larger man dressed in black as I address him. “If you are the beta as you say you are, then I am here to warn your alpha. If I don’t reach him before noon then he wont have time to prepare for the swarm of reporters that will be here” I state as he watches me closely. “And just how do you know that reporters will be coming here? Whose to say that if I take you to him that you aren’t some spy for someone who is against us” he ask as he ponders what I said. “I used to be a reporter. I got to close to a truth about what was being done to your people and ended up in a lab. One of you helped me escape so that I could help to free them. I have had listening devices planted in several places of the facility. I have information that your alpha needs to hear before the reporters get their curried packages of the same news. Now are you going to take me to him or not?” By the end of my near rant I have already grown irritated and began to start walking away. It doesn’t look like they are going to help me at all. “Wait” The dragon man says. I halt my steps as I look at him and wait for him to speak. “If you have such information, I am going to need proof before I take you to my alpha” he states as he approaches me. The angry look that he was wearing has now left his features and he appears to look calmer now. “The proof I have is already here Maximus.” He looks so shocked as I say his name before his features quickly turn angry once more. Before he can ask how I know his name I go ahead and answer the question for him. “Your mate Emily is also a reporter and a good friend of mine. Why don’t you give her and your female alpha Tika a call. By the way, I give you permission to transport me once you are finished” I say with a chuckle. His eyes get cloudy and I know that he is speaking to one of them. The fairy man walks over to me swiftly and I freeze as I wait for his next action. I am unable to hide my surprise as I am embraced into his arms and lifted off the floor. The oddest sensation runs across my skin as he touches me and I feel electrified. I wiggle to get away from him and he promptly releases me. I stumble backward as I stare at him awkwardly. “Sorry lass. However the way that you just handle him was quite bad a*s. It made me proud to see such a small lass handle a man of that stature in such a way. I had to share that pride or it would have eaten me alive” he says with a hard chuckle. Now that there is nothing occupying my mind I am able to take a real look at him. I would have to admit that with eyes that color to match his bright green hair, he looks quite handsome. “If you keep eyeing me like that mate, I just might start to think that you like me” he says with a wry grin. The sly remark instantly has me blushing and I look down at my feet to stop myself from staring. I listen as he chuckles but I still decide not to look up at him. “Ah, it seems that you do feel something for me, don’t you lass”? My gaze jumps to his so that I can deliver a rebuttal but I am stopped. “If you two are done eye f*****g each other, we need to go. My mate just informed me of a whole lot that she is going to pay for later. I suggest you take hold” he states as he offers his hand. Already knowing his power from being forewarned I reach out to take it just as the fairy takes my other. “I didn’t give you permission to come fairy” he says vehemently. “And you wont be taking the lass anywhere without me. She is my mate and I will follow her” He yells. “I am not his mate” I defend myself easily as I wiggle my hand to get it out of his. His face looses some of its smile as I say the words and for some unknown reason I immediately feel sad. The odd sensation that is swimming along my skin from his touch also doesn’t help matters. “The tingles when we touch confirmed it lass. I’ve been waiting my whole life for this moment. There is no getting rid of me so know that I tell the truth. I’ll follow you wherever you go just so you know that I belong to you as much as you belong to me. Now take us dragon man. You will not be changing my mind about this. There is nothing that I can say as both men tighten the holds that they have on my hands. My stomach lurches as the world around me changes and a silent curse leaves my lips at what I see. Afraid for dear life, I close my eyes and just the world move. I decide to deliver a silent prayer to the universe. Please let this go well, so that I can return home. All I want is to make it back home.
