Alpha Preston,I Dare You

Kiera's POV Everywhere was dark, very dark, but only the blood moon stood, giving light to the earth. Then voices of cries from women and kids filled the air, fire vapor evaporated to the sky, and sounds of paws and claws clashing saturated. In a war, the enemies seemed to be winning. I seemed to just be watching. I saw Preston fighting with might. More than ten men surrounded him, and he kept snapping their necks off, but suddenly he fell on his back, and then the arrow pierced out of his heart. “Awuuuuuuu!” The howl of victory from the enemies. “Nooo!” I screamed as I sat up on the bed, breathing heavily, my body soaked with my sweat. “What's the matter?” I turned to the side to see Martha rushing towards me with a cup of water. She helped me with it. I slowly gulped down the entire contents of the cup, and she dropped the cup on the bedstand and sat at the edge of the bed. She helped me rest my head on the headrest, then placed her hand on my neck to feel my temperature. “How are you feeling?” she asked, her face filled with worry. I stretched my lips in a faint smile. “I feel a lot better and hungry too,” I said, and she stood up immediately and rushed to the food tray on the center table. She brought it to the bed and began to feed me slowly. I took the spoon from her and began to feed myself. I'm so famished, though a little weak. “Take it easy,” she said as she wiped off the stain around my lips. After eating, she took the tray and kept it on the table and gave me a cup of water, then held another cup of fruit juice for me. “Thank you so much for being here with me. Who called for you?” I asked. I feel myself right now. Furthermore, I turned to face her and could see the satisfactory smile on her lips. “Your husband,” she replied, and I nodded, then signaled her to join me on the bed. “I apologize for the pain he put you through,” she said as she lay down with me and wrapped her hands around my body in a comforting manner. “Martha, Preston has broken me,” I said. Those words were enough to push salty liquid down my cheeks. “He made me a criminal, he threw my respect to the clouds, he let his people walk on me, and he showed them that I mean nothing. He's the alpha, and he has the final say. Imagine Gerald, that knee before me, dragging me to the dungeon like a petty thief,” I said, and she made me rest my head on her shoulders while she put my arms. “Martha, Preston, he ordered them to treat me like a murderer; they handcuffed my arms up and my legs down. I stood for three days. I didn't even squat. They didn't give me any form of food, made me beg for drops of water,” I let out as I continued sobbing, the memories flashing through my head. “And do you know what?” I asked as I raised my head up and looked into her eyes, tears still dripping down my cheeks. “I will make them crawl before me and beg for their very own death,” I let out, and she hugged me tightly. Tears kept dripping down my cheeks, but I refused to cry. After a few minutes the tears dried up, and I broke the hug and rested my head back on Martha's shoulders. “How is his foolish mate?” I asked Martha, and she swallowed hard. “She's not responding to treatment fast, but she will be fine. He intended to leave you there until she recuperates, so I heard from the maids, but then he couldn't,” she said, and I muttered why, and she began to caress my hair lightly. “Our people are dying every single day. Over fifty people have lost their lives, and over a hundred have been hospitalized. He can't keep quiet, can he?” she asked, and I shrugged. That's his choice to make. “Who's the dark man that's always with him?” I asked as I raised my shoulder up again and looked into her eyes. “Alpha Aethelwulf, Alpha Preston's twin brother.” Time stopped the minute she said that. She had to be joking. “I didn't get that?” I asked, with shock all over my face. I can feel my legs trembling. “His twin brother—you know he has a twin, right? The one that…” She stopped when she noticed my confused expression. “Holy crap,” I let out while still staring at her. I can't believe I just slept with twin brothers. I'm so messed up. “What's the matter?” she asked, and I felt so ashamed to say a thing to her. “I f****d up,” I muttered, and she still stared at me, confused as hell. “I'm lost. I'm sure I will get it all if you try explaining what happened,” she requested, and I took a deep breath and looked anywhere but at her face. “So the night Preston came back and was parading his mate, I had a one-night stand with his twin brother. Trust me, I never knew he was his brother. I didn't even know he was from the Moonlight pack. If I had known, I wouldn't have done it, you know, right? I met him outside this pack,” I said, and she stared at me in awe. I notched her shoulder. “Say something.” She grinned instead, then held my hand lightly. “You know I will never judge you. You did it in the spur of the moment; it wasn't your fault at all. Just pretend you've never met him, as though the memory wiped off your head, and hopefully he will get the sign and play along with that,” she said, and I didn't even have anything more to say. I slowly stretched on the bed and turned to the other side, trying to sleep it off. The rays of the light beamed on my eyelids, and I turned to the other side of the bed and noticed Martha isn't here anymore. I spread out my legs and hands wide enough to cover the entire bed as I tried to continue sleeping. Then someone banged my door open. I sat up immediately. “Greetings, Alpha Preston of the Moonlight Pack.” He smiled as he walked to the bed, slowly sat down, and trailed kisses down my neck and then to my cheeks. “I hope you learned your lessons in the dungeon,” he asked, and I nodded while adjusting my face away from him. “I love you so much; that's why I punish you,” he said as he pecked my lips and then looked up at my face and tried to deepen the kiss when I pushed him off. “Kiera, you're mine, my Luna. I am entitled to your body, and you shouldn't deny me that right,” he said as he tried to kiss me again, and I pushed him off. “You're here because your mate hasn't fully recuperated, right?” I asked as I stood up from the bed. “About that, I need you to personally attend to her and make sure she recovers faster,” he said as he walked to me. “I will do no such thing,” I said, and he chuckled lightly and held my hands. “Do you want to go back to the dungeon?” he asked as he kissed my shoulders while whispering. “I dare you to send me back there.” He immediately looked into my eyes and left my hands almost immediately. “Alpha Preston, I dare you to send me back there.”
