Beau A day before I was due to embark on the trip to the horse show Ivy made an appearance at the office to my utmost relief. I waited a little while after I heard her car come in before I went to her office on some excuse. In her jeans and flowy top and her bare arms she looked frail and tired, i looked over her cautiously, discreetly checking for scars, the absence of any bruises and cuts that i could see did not ease my worries anyway. I had been witness to my father targeting beneath my mother’s face to deliver bruising blows to her body so that no one would notice what was being done to her. As I resisted the urge to come right out and ask her if she looked so pale and unlike herself because of altercation with Sean but I was certain she would not look favorably on my nosiness,
