Chapter 23

526 Words
Unknown POV Mack elected to stay behind while Sierra and her husband went to the station. He called into the homicide of the neighbors and now he was waiting for CSU and the coroner to show up. He couldn’t take the smell any longer so he was seated outside the porch. He hadn’t been sitting here long when the coroner showed up. “What have we got Detective?” Mack stood and opened the door. “Well, I think that you might need to bring quite a few bags.” He froze for a moment. “I beg your pardon? Is it really that bad?” Mack led him upstairs and opened the door to where the body parts were located. “You’ll just have to see for yourself?” Mack said as he backed away and let the coroner into the room. “Holy mother of Mary! In all my years as a medical examiner I have NEVER seen anything like this!” He walked back out and into the hallway. “I am headed back to the van, I have to don a full body suit.” He began to walk back outside. “Where is your partner? She is usually always with you.” Mack followed him down to the van. “She headed to the station to talk to the chief about her daughter.” By the time the doc was all suited up the CSU team arrived. Before the doc reentered the house, he warned the CSU team. “Full body suits for whoever enters the crime scene.” He quickly led everyone inside. Mack sat outside, waiting until both the coroner and the CSU team were gone. The whole time he waited for the guys to be done with the place he thought about why someone would want to hurt Mrs. Paskar or Chancey. He also didn’t know why Chancey wasn’t hurt when Mrs. Paskar was attacked. He worried about Sierra, she had a tendency to be overprotective. He decided to head back to the station to see if Sierra found anything else about what might have happened. He was pulling out into the street when someone rammed into his car. The last thing he remembered was seeing a guy get out of a beat-up copper sedan. He slipped unconsciously wondering if he was going to die. The man from the sedan slowly walked over to the mangled vehicle. He stared at the driver for a moment before pulling him out of the damaged vehicle and placing him in the trunk of his own car. He remained silent as he quickly doused the man’s vehicle then lit a match and torched the car. He then drove his own away and drove to a secluded, run down cabin. He threw him over his shoulder and entered the cabin that was almost too small for him. He threw the unconscious man onto the cot in the corner of the cabin. He then locked his wrists and ankles with heavy chains and steel locks. The man pulled out his phone and sent a message to his boss. It is done. Awaiting next orders.
