Today was a weekend, and he’d finally landed another job, this one would hopefully be the last time he would need to quit or get fired from a job, because unlike the past jobs, he didn’t have to interact much with people, and the boss didn’t seem to mind that he’d been to prison a couple of times before. He had called it -youthful shenanigans-
All he had to do was load boxes of freshly cut and packaged meat into the delivery van when it pulled in, and with his enhanced strength and stamina, he could easily do the heavy lifting of three or more men with ease.
Right now, Isaac stood in the alley behind the butcher’s shop, taking a short smoke break behind some old dumpsters before the final van for the day pulled in. but just as he was about to take another drag from the cigarette, his ears picked up on the panicked heart rate of someone running and footsteps, multiple footsteps heading his way, he sighed, knowing it was trouble.
“GET HER! “a deep masculine voice yelled as they continued to chase after whoever it was they were chasing after. Isaac however, remained quite in the shadows of the dumpsters. He was already on probation and this was a new job. He might have been a delinquent, but he wasn’t an i***t. It was better not to get involved. Or so he thought, because the very second, a pale looking girl with big brown eyes stumbled into the same alley, she looked as though she would pass out any moment from now, possibly from all the running.
Her innocent looking eyes scanned the cramped alley to find some place to hide, but there really wasn’t much space to hide and it was a dead end, they would catch her!
“oh god, please don’t let them catch me…” the girl prayed. She obviously couldn’t go back the way she had come, because the men where hot on her trail. Despite everything, she still didn’t realize there was someone in the alley with her.
“hey…beanie…” a steady masculine voice startled her and she shriked, thinking it was the men who were chasing her, but when she peered deeper into the darkness, did she finally notice the person hidden behind the dumpster, blowing smoke through his lips. The girl couldn’t identify his face, so she took a step back, frightened.
Sensing her apprehension, Isaac sighed. Why was he even getting involved?
“you seem to be in trouble…”
“…” but the girl remained silent.
“I think she went down that way!!” another voice yelled from behind her. This seemed to push her to answer.
“y…yes! P...please, can you help?” cried the girl, finally answering the stranger in the shadows.
“come here…” Isaac said casually, and the girl ran to him immediately without a second thought. Just in time for three men to appear in the same alley way. The girl held her hands over her mouth, as she pressed her back into the red brick wall behind them, her body shaking slightly, but in contrast to her, Isaac was calm as he took out another stick of cigarette and dangled it off his lips as he reached for his lighter inside his apron.
“i***t! I thought you said you saw here run down this way?” a young man with a black eye and a bandage over the bridge of his nose kicked another man in the side, expressing his frustration. How could the girl had just disappeared?
“sorry boss! Maybe she’s still here somewhere, there’s only so much space for her to hide anyways….” Said the second man.
The girl thought her heart would give up on her as she began to shake violently as she slid down the wall. What confused her the most was how calm the stranger was. Didn’t he say he would help her? So why wasn’t he doing anything?! Oh no, could he perhaps be working with the people who had been chasing her all this time? An instant wave of dread it her as silent tears slid down her pale cheeks.
Was this how she would die? Mugged and r***d to death by these men? When she had moved to this city, she hoped to further her studies and hopefully get a good paying job. But here she was now, in an alley, trapped with nowhere else to run.
_please god, don’t let me die like this, not here, not now_ the girl prayed in her heart as she heard nothing but the thumping of her beating heart.
*click* within the cramped space, the sounds of the flint and wheels of the lighter ignite the fuel and created a small flame in the shadowy part of the alley. The girl looked up in horror, but was instead lost in the green eyes of her supposed savior. The reflection of the flames was enough to cast a vague light over the stranger’s features. But the moment the cigarette was lit, the fire was put out.
“who’s there?!” demanded the first young man as he stepped deeper into the alley. Taking a drag from his cigarette, Isaac finally stepped out of the shadows, so everyone could see him clearly.
“I…Isaac?” the first young man was visibly spooked by his sudden appearance as he took a step backwards, so did the other two men who had come with it. Isaac seemed unfazed by them all as he continued to spoke.
“w…what are you doing here?” the first man asked.
“huh?” Isaac c****d his head to the side. Gazing down on the men as though they were clowns asking him a ridiculous question. “…as you can see, I’m on my break…got a problem with that? Liam.”
Daring to take a peek at the stranger, the girl was mesmerized, although she couldn’t see his face at the moment, she did identify some physical attributes on the man. His inky black hair was a disheveled mess, as though he had been running his fingers through them. He wore ripped jeans and an equally black short sleeved shirt that exposed the band tattoo on his left arm. From his left ear, she noticed how he wore a silver piece of earring that dangled down.
But what was even more interesting to her was that the men looked…afraid of him. But why? Could he be some kind of top dog? Or something worst.
“hah…y..yeah. actually, we were looking for a girl and thought she might have come by this way…” Liam began to explain, but was interrupted by Isaac.
“…about ye high…” Isaac brought his hands up to his chest level to characterize the girl’s height. “…she had on blue jeans and a hoodie. Big brown eyes, wearing a red beanie?” these would have all been vague descriptions, but they all fit into the person they were searching for so perfectly. The girl in question felt her blood turn cold again as she listened, “big t**s?” Isaac added the last part as a tease, and he smiled inwardly when he heard the change of beat to the girls’ heart as she shuffled silently. She felt violated. Was her savior a p*****t?
