I could tell that I would not like him and that he was a cold hearted jerk. My father knew that I cared about Kalen, but he has forbidden any kind of contact with him. I looked to my fathers left and saw Kalen, but he avoided eye contact and looked to the ground. Could he not see that I cared. I looked at Fafnir and he had a grin on his face, I would wipe that smirk off his cocky face.
"I am glad that you could join me, my daughter." My father said.
"It is a pleasure to be here, and you must be Fafnir." I said.
"That I am, milady. I have heard so much about you." He said.
"I am sure that it was nothing special." I said.
"Oh, but it was. I value everything about you, you are to be my wife." He said.
"Yes I know." I said.
"Please have a seat. Adriana will be serving tea and lunch." My father said.
I took my sit and watched as Fafnir watched my every move. He was like a tiger that was ready to pounce at any time and it was unsettling. My father watched me carefully as if to gauge my reaction to seeing the man in front of me, but the only kind of feelings that I go from him was revulsion. He made me sick to my stomach and I know that he was the type to have a mistress or two. Why did my father insist that I marry such a person.
"So, my dear Freya, when would you like to get married?" Fafnir asked.
"What if I don't want to marry you?" I asked.
"This arrangement was made by the king, you have no right to refuse." Fafnir ground out and his ugly side was starting to show.
"I never agreed to the arrangement. I don't want to be married to some heartless jerk who will have mistresses to keep him company." I yelled.
"Us fairy don't take mistresses. We marry one time and that is who we stay with." Fafnir stated calmly.
"Let me make this clear, so that you both understand. I refuse to marry you Fafnir." I said.
"Freya you will marry Fafnir, or I will disown you. The choice is yours, just remember you have nothing in the human world." My father said.
"I will go find my mother and live with her." I said.
"Do not mention your mother again." My father said calmly.
I started to say something more but a hand on my shoulder told me to stop, and I looked back to see Kalen giving me a comforting smile. He and I both knew that he was risking my fathers wrath, but in that moment he was comforting me and in a way he was telling me that everything was going to be okay and he would find a way to make me happy.
"Kalen if you do not wish to be banned from this kingdom then you will remove your hand from my bride." Fafnir said.
"I was simply trying to calm her down." He replied and removed his hands.
"I know that you are her mate. You forget that my power as a fairy allows me to see the bonds between people. She doesn't know it yet, but you have watched her all of her life and the bond developed because of it. Sorry to inform you though, you won't be marrying her, I will." Fafnir said.
Fafnir stood and pulled me out of my seat and toward him, and made it a point to do it slow enough to taunt Kalen. He pulled me into a forced kiss and would not let up. He was doing this on purpose, he wanted Kalen to know his place and know that he would never have me. I tried to pull away but the force from Fafnirs kiss was to much and I buckled under his kiss. He pulled away with a smirk and slapped him across the face and stepped back releasing me and glared.
"You will come to enjoy everything I do." Fafnir said. Cocky much.
"As if I could like someone like you." I yelled.
"I promise young one, I can make you happy and give you everything that you could ever want." Fafnir said proudly.
"I don't need anything from someone like you." I yelled.
"That is no way to treat your betrothed young one." Fafnir said in a warning tone.
"Do you think that you scare me?" I asked.
"I should, because you will submit to me." He said.3
"Fafnir, maybe you should come back at a later time when I have taught my daughter how she should behave and what manners to use." My father said.
"That would be best and when I return I expect to see a proper lady that I can marry." He replied and was gone.
"Young lady that was no way to behave in front of Fafnir. I will Adriana give you lessons right away, and if you don't want Kalen to disappear from your side forever you will marry Fafnir and you will act like a proper lady." My father said and my face paled at the thought of losing Kalen.
"You would really banish Kalen for being my mate?" I asked.
"As long as you are making the effort to behave properly and make an effort to spend time with Fafnir then Kalen will stay by yourside." My father said.
"I will do as you ask, but please do not take him from me." I cried.
"Like I said, I won't take him, just do what I have asked." My father said and disappeared.
Kalen pulled into his arms as soon as he was gone and just held me. I cried to my eyes dry and was dry heaving. I couldn't calm down. If I wanted to keep my beloved Kalen then I would have to marry a man I have no feelings for and pretend to be this proper lady around him. Kalen held me tighter and put his head on my head, he knew that I felt safe in his arms and that he was my protection and I would always lean on him. He pulled back slightly and wiped my tears away.
"Don't cry dear one. Tears are not meant to be on such a beautiful face." Kalen said.
"I know that I don't quite understand my feelings for you yet, but I could never lose you. That much I do know." I said.
"Yes, I know, but soon you will understand your feelings for me and they will keep growing." Kalen said tenderly.
"Fafnir will never allow and you know that." I said.
"We will find a way." Kalen said.
"I am scared that he will be my downfall and my first kiss was stolen by that horrible man." I cried more.
"That was your first kiss?" Kalen asked in a shocked voice.
"Yes I had wanted to save my first kiss for the one that I l ove, but now it is gone." I cried and tears dripped onto my chest.
"If it takes the rest of my life and running away with you, I will make that up to you." Kalen said.
"They will find us. They always do." I said.
"They found you because your mother let her guard down. She wanted your father to find you." He said.
"Thank you Kalen, but if I am going to be with you then I want to do it where everyone can see us." I said.
"Then you just need to stay calm, do the training's and hope that everything turns out okay." Kalen said.
"What if it doesn't work out?" I asked.
"Don't think that way. You never know, maybe Fafnir will disappear or find love for a change. I won't let him steal anything else from you. He has taken enough as it is." Kalen said, and a bit of venom slipped into his tone.
"Thank you." I said and hugged him tightly.
"You are welcome angel." He said.
"I had better get going. I am sure that Adriana will be coming to get me any moment now, I did ruin lunch and she will be furious." I said and pulled away.
"You got that right young lady. How dare you behave so improperly toward Lord Fafnir." Adriana yelled and looked over to see her glaring at us both.
"Sorry, but I don't like that guy. He thinks he can control me." I said.
"That's because as your husband he can tell you to do whatever he wants to, and you need to grasp that or you will lose Kalen and I know you don't want that." Adriana said.
"What does it matter, I am going to be forced to Marry someone I don't love and my mate will forced to watch him take everything that I had saved for the man I love." I said.
"Look, it is hard, but that is how fairies work. My mate is your uncle, and he is married to another woman through an arranged marriage. I watch him with her daily and it hurts, but It is something that I have to deal with. I am content just knowing that he is near and that he can hold me she isn't around." Adriana said.
"I know you are in pain from it, but I don't want to back down and just let this happen." I said.
"The only way you would be aloud to marry Kalen is if he gained social status. He can do it, but he needs suck up his damn pride and ask his wealthy parents for help. I bet that he didn't tell you that his brother is Fafnir." Adriana said and I literally froze.
"Dammit Adriana, I didn't want to tell her that yet." He yelled.
"Why are you nothing like him and why do you not live with your family?" I asked.
"It started when I was born. As you know my brother and I are very old, and our aging process stopped at 21 like every other fairy. I was the first born and when the Kings daughter was born I was told that I would be marrying her when she became of age. I was furious because I didn't want to marry a spoiled brat, and then I was informed that the mother of the child had disappeared along with her. I went to find you like my father wished, and the bond formed for the first time when I saw. I refused to come back home and watched over you. My father became furious and banned me from the kingdom, and I had no choice but to become a lowly servant to your father." He replied.
"So this whole time you could have been the one to take my first kiss. All you had to do was suck up your damn pride and go home and talk to your parents." I yelled.
"Then I would be subject to the rules of their life." He yelled back.
"Does it matter, you can be happily married to me." I said.
"It does matter because my brother won't give up so easily." He sighed.
"People fight for what they want, and if you really want to be with then prove it ." I yelled.
"My brother kissed you because he knew that I was suppose to be in his shoes and he wanted to rub it in that he had you and I didn't." Kalen said.
"Why won't you go to your parents and work things out and we can be together finally?" I asked.
"I am sorry, but I can't do that." He said and then disappeared.
I can't believe him, he had the opportunity to make me happy and he passed up willingly. I don't understand how he could do that to me. If you love someone then you cherish them and care for them always. I let the tears start falling, because I was destined to be married to Fafnir the wrong brother. I had no choice but to accept my fate.
"Maybe I can talk him into it, but it might take a lot of work." Adriana said.
"I doubt that he cares." I said.
"Trust me he cares more than you could ever know, but for the time being lets begin you training so that Kalen can stay by your side till things work out." Adriana said.
I nodded my head numbly and flowed her to where ever she was going to take me, and there I would train and hopefully Kalen would change his mind.
