Chapter Twenty-Three“Kurt, how much longer?” Wilf barked, his stomach rumbling. “We'll be there by nightfall.” “We're starving. Is there any more grub?” “Aye. Check the galley.” Wilf stood up, stretching his stiff limbs. “I'll go and forage for our supper. You two can wait here.” They both nodded, the older man making his way through a door underneath where Kurt was stood. He made his way along a musty corridor, turning left through a small doorway into the ship's galley. After rooting around for a few minutes, Wilf laid some dried hunks of meat, salted biscuits and two jugs of what smelt like ale. “That should keep us going,” he smiled, placing all the provisions in a hessian sack. “What else is on this tub?” He walked out of the galley, moving towards the rear of the ship.
