CHAPTER THREE: IT WAS AWARE
The thing knows that I know what is going on. I am aware of it. The thing knows that I have this knowledge.
I did not go home that night because something was stopping me. My legs were shaking really badly. My head was feeling very weird. I sat outside for a time until the sky got dark again. People were walking by. Cars were driving past me. I could hear voices of people talking. Then they would be gone. The world felt like a place and I felt like the home was very far away. I felt small and alone, in a world like home and everything else was moving forward without me. I was just standing still feeling very alone.
When night came I found a shop that stayed open late. The shop was still open. That was good. I sat near the shop because the light from the shop made me feel safe. I was holding my phone really tight. I kept watching the video on my phone again. The video scared me. I wanted to understand what was going on in the video. I wanted to see more of the video so I could make sense of it.
The shadow was always there; it was really tall and really dark. It did not have a face. The shadow did not make any sound. The shadow was just watching the person, it was just standing there watching the person.
When morning came I felt really sick because I did not get any sleep. The police station was my hope. I knew I could not stay outside forever. I needed some answers from the police. I needed help from the police. So I decided to go to the police station and talk to the police.
The police station was really bright. It was very noisy. I felt pretty strange just sitting there. When the police officer asked me what was wrong my voice sounded very weak. I told the police officer everything, about the police station incident. I told him about the watching, the breathing and the video. I showed the police officer the phone that had the video on it.
The man watched the video slowly. The man's face did not change at all. The man paused the video. Looked straight at me. The man asked me if I lived alone in my house. I told the man yes I do. The man asked me if I had any enemies that I knew of. I told the man no I did not. The man asked me if I was feeling stressed about something. I told the man yes I was feeling stressed.
He said to me that I might have been walking around in my sleep. It is possible that it was a trick of the light. Maybe someone was playing a joke on me. He told me that I should get some rest. He also told me that I should lock my door well.
I knew that he did not believe what I was saying. He just did not think that I was telling the truth. The thing is, I knew that he did not believe me.
I left the station. I felt really empty. The world outside seemed cold to me. I walked back to my apartment. I did it very slowly. Each step that I took felt wrong, to me. When I finally reached the door of my apartment I just stood there for a long time.
I opened the thing.
The apartment was really quiet. It was so quiet that it felt weird. I could feel the air on my skin. It gave me the chills. I walked inside. Locked the door behind me. My heart was beating loud in my ears.
I went through everything again. The windows were closed. The door was locked. The closet was empty. I even checked under the bed. It was empty. I was trying to convince myself that the house was safe. I wanted to feel safe in my home so I checked the windows and the door again to make sure they were really closed and locked. The closet was still empty. There was nothing under the bed. I was trying to believe that everything was okay and that the house was really safe.
I decided to make some changes. My bed is now close to the wall. I put a chair in front of the closet door so it cannot be opened. There is also a chair behind the door. All the lights in the room are turned on. The room with the lights on and my bed close to the wall and the closet door blocked and the chair behind the door makes me feel a little better.
That night I did not want to sleep. My body was really tired though. I got into bed. I left the light on. I was lying there with my eyes open. I started counting my breaths. I was listening to everything, around me at night the silence, my breaths I was listening to.
Time just kept going and going. Hours passed. Nothing all happened. It was really quiet and boring. Hours. Still nothing happened.
Then I felt it.
That feeling again.
Like eyes on me.
The light in the room started to flicker. My heart jumped high. I sat up fast. The room looked the same as it did before.. The air in the room felt really heavy and weird.
I whispered to myself that I was awake. I told myself my name. I gave my arm a pinch. It really hurt. So I knew for sure that I was awake. I was definitely awake.
The light just stopped working. The light is not on anymore.
I let out a scream.
The room went dark. My body froze. I felt that heavy feeling press down on me again. The bed moved slightly. I smelled something like dust and cold air. It was a weird smell, like the kind you get when you open a window that has been closed for a long time. The room was filled with the smell of dust and cold air.
I kept my eyes closed.
I felt something lean close to me. It was very close. I could feel the breath of the thing on my cheek.
The thing spoke to me. It was really weird when the thing spoke. The thing. It was so loud.
Not loud. Not soft. Inside my head.
You were not supposed to see that thing. That thing was not, for your eyes. You were not meant to see it.
My body shook badly. Tears just kept rolling down my face. I really wanted to get up and run away from what was happening but my body would not move. I was completely frozen, in place the fear of the situation had taken over my body. My body would not listen to what my mind was telling it to do.
Something touched my forehead. It was cold. My mind felt really heavy all of a sudden. The thoughts in my head slowed down. My thoughts just slowed down.
The thing went away. The thing left.
The light came on.
I jumped up. Ran to the door. The chair that was behind the door was moved to a place. My breath caught in my throat. I unlocked the door. I ran outside again to see what was going on with the door and the chair.
I just kept on running. I did not stop running. The running just went on and on. I did not stop running.
I went to my friend's house. My friend was really surprised to see me. I told my friend everything that happened. My friend believed every word I said. My friend gave me a hug. I. Cried until I just could not cry anymore.
That night I went to sleep on her couch. I did not turn off the lights. The couch was where I stayed for a long time when I was sleeping.
In the morning I picked up my phone to see what was going on. My phone had a lot of messages. I looked at my phone. I started reading the messages on my phone.
There was a new video.
The recording was made after I had left the place. I was not there when they recorded it. They did the recording after I left.
My bed was empty. That is what it showed. The bed was really empty.
The shadow stepped into the frame. This is when things started to get really weird with the shadow. The shadow was now right, in the frame. You could see the shadow really clearly.
The camera was looked at by it.
The thing smiled at me. It was a smile. The smile was on its face. The face of the thing smiled.
I understood that thing at that moment.
The thing was out in the open now. It was not hiding anymore. The truth about it was finally visible to everyone.
The thing was that I was aware of it. The situation was pretty clear. The thing knew I knew.
And it was not done with me yet.
