CHAPTER FOUR: SOMETHING SCARY HAPPENED TO ME This thing followed me. I do not know what it was. It followed me. The thing followed me. It was really frightening. I am still shaken because it followed me. I did not sleep well after watching that video. When I was at my friend's house I felt really scared. The couch at my friend's house was really soft. My mind was racing. Every little noise made me open my eyes to see what was happening. I kept looking at the door. My friend was sleeping in her room. The house was very quiet. In the morning she made tea for me. She tried to smile at me. She said I was safe at her place. I wanted to believe what she was saying. I really wanted to believe her.. Deep down inside me I felt something that was really heavy. It felt like fear was sitting in my chest. The fear was making me feel weird. She told me again that I was safe, at her place. I showed her the last video and her face went pale. She did not laugh at the video. The video did not make her say it was stressful. She believed the video. She believed me. The video made me feel better that she believed me. It made me feel worse that the video was real. The video and what it showed made me feel bad and good at the time. She said I could stay with her for a few days. I thanked her many times. I told her I would help out around the house with chores. I promised her that I would not be a problem for her. She told me to relax and calm down.. The thing is, I could not relax because I felt like someone was watching me all the time even when it was daylight outside and everything seemed normal. That day I tried to act like everything was okay. I helped her with the cleaning. I made some meals, like soup and toast. I even laughed a bit. For hours that day I almost forgot about what was bothering me. Almost. Then I noticed something that was really strange. My phone screen turns on by itself every time I move my phone. This does not happen all the time. It only happens sometimes. It is like my phone is waking up without me touching it. I thought to myself that the problem is, with my phone.. I noticed that my hands were shaking when this happened with my phone. My friend went out to get some food in the evening. I was by myself, in the living room. The living room had the lights on. The door was locked so I felt safe. I sat down on the couch. I hugged a pillow tight. I heard a sound that really caught my attention. It was the sound. The sound was pretty loud. It made me stop what I was doing to listen to the sound. A soft sound. Like a step. I just stopped moving. I was so surprised that I froze. The house was silent again. I said to myself that it was the house. You see, old houses, like this one, make all sorts of sounds. I tried to breathe slowly. Then I felt it. That feeling. Eyes on me. My skin felt cold. I looked around slowly. There was nothing in sight. The hallway was really empty. The rooms were very quiet. My skin still felt cold as I stood there in the hallway with the quiet rooms. My phone started to vibrate. I was looking at the screen. The screen was in front of me. I looked at the screen for a while. Camera on. Front camera. I was on the screen. The computer was being used by someone. The person was using the computer. I screamed loudly and dropped the phone. The phone hit the floor. Slide away from me. I put my hands over my face. I cried. The phone made me feel really small. I felt so weak when I thought about what happened with the phone. My phone stopped vibrating. I picked up the phone slowly. The screen looked normal. There was no video playing on it. The camera was not on. I did not see any message on the phone. When my friend came back she found me shaking badly. I told my friend everything that had happened. My friend held my hands. Told me to stay strong that everything would be okay.. Now I could see fear in my friends eyes too and that made me feel even more scared. That night she locked her bedroom door. I had to sleep in the living room. All the lights in the living room were left on by me. I did not close my eyes the time I just kept thinking about the bedroom door being locked by her. I remember this one thing I heard breathing at some point. The breathing was really noticeable. I am talking about the breathing I heard. Not loud. Not close. Far. From the hallway. I did not move. I did not look. I just listened to the sound. My heart was beating fast. The breathing was moving slowly. It was like someone was walking. I did not hear any steps at all. The thing just stopped all a sudden. I did not go to sleep until it was morning. The morning light was already coming in when I finally went to sleep. I was awake for the night and I stayed awake until morning. The day my friend told me something that really scared me. She said her closet door was wide open when she woke up in the morning. My friend always makes sure to close her closet door. She never leaves it open. My friend always closes her closet door every day. I knew that at the time. The thing I am talking about did not stay in my apartment. The thing followed me. I mean the thing really followed me. I packed my bag because I did not want to put her in a situation. The thought of something happening to her was really scary. I told her that I would go, that it would be better for her if I left. She begged me to stay with her because she really did not want me to go. But I just could not stay. I had to leave to keep her safe to keep the woman I care about safe. I went away from her house before the night came. The night was coming. I had to leave her house. I walked around without knowing where I was going. The busy streets felt safer to me. I mean all the noise felt better, than being alone. I just kept moving and moving. When the night came I felt really tired. The streets were busy. I needed to rest so I had to find a place to stop and sit down. Busy streets were still my option because they felt safer at night. I came across a hotel that was really cheap and quiet. The hotel was cheap. It was also very quiet. I paid for one night at the hotel. When I paid for one night at the hotel I did not tell anyone my name at the hotel. The room was really small. It had one bed in it. There was one window and one door too. I checked the room to make sure everything was okay. I went over to the door. I blocked it with a chair so nobody could get in. Then I closed the window. After that I turned on the light in the room. I put my phone on the table. It was facing the bed. Then I pressed the record button. I needed to see it happen again so I would have proof. I really wanted to see it and know what was going on with my phone recording everything. I was lying on the bed. I looked up at the ceiling. Tears started to fall into my ears. I said to myself that I was not scared.. The truth is, I was really scared of what was happening with tears and fear and the ceiling, above me the bed I was lying on. It took time for sleep to come. Sleep was something that I had to wait for. The sleep that I was waiting for came slowly. I woke up to silence. It was really quiet, there was no noise at all. The silence was weird . I am used to hearing something when I wake up. The silence of my room was nice though it was peaceful. The light was off. Someone moved the chair. The chair is now in a place where it was before. The chair was moved from where it was. My phone was gone. I could not find my phone anywhere. I had my phone. Now my phone is gone. I sat up fast. My chest was hurting. I looked around the room to see what was going on. The door was completely closed. The window was also closed. Then I saw the thing that caught my attention. A shadow on the wall. Tall. Still. Watching. The thing did not move this time. It just stayed in the place the thing did not move at all this time. The thing was out, in the open. It did not hide all. The thing was easy to see. I tried to scream. Nothing came out of my mouth. I wanted to scream loud but my voice was not working. The scream was stuck in my throat. I could not make a sound. I have this voice inside my head. I heard the voice again. The voice is talking to me inside my head. You are not able to run I closed my eyes. I opened my eyes again. I was all, by myself. The light was on. The phone was back on the table. A new message was on the screen. It said that something was mentioned. I do not know what the message was about. The message itself was not very clear, it just said that. I wish I knew what it said. Tonight I will make sure that you see me clearly. The thing that is important to me is that you get a look at me at the person that is me tonight. I knew then and there that the night was still going on. The night was not yet. This time it was not about watching the thing. The person was actually doing something with the thing they were watching; the thing was not something they were looking at. This time the person was really involved with the thing they were watching. It was coming closer.
