Esi p.o.v The next day when I arrived in school, Kwame was still patrolling the school compound. Ordering students here and there to clean the school compound. I packed my bicycle under a tree and I took the path heading to my classroom. I have to look for Kojo and talk to him to see if we can come up with a plan to save his girl. I was somehow tired because I haven't slept well the whole night. I was trying to find some solutions for my friend but I got none. It was around 3 in the morning that I decided to do my homework. I was quick to finish my homework. Despite me being stubborn, I also got the brain. I'm not as smart as my old sister Ama who have been jumping classes due to her high level of smartness. I on the other hand got the opportunity to skip classes just a few times and continued to move in grade as the other normal student. "I'm glad you're here I have been waiting for you," said the voice that I didn't want to hear today. I lifted my eyes to meet with his. Kwame is standing right in front of me blocking my way. His uniform was ironed to the maximum bringing out the sharp edges as usual. His black shoes were sparkling and could blind someone if the rays of the sun reflected on them. "Have you been using the wood polish to polish your shoes?" I ask him as I continue to check the guy who thinks I will be his future wife. "This is how I like to dress. I like to look handsome and clean." I look at him as he continues to praise himself. I was getting annoyed already I have better things I needed to handle. "What do you want Kwame?" I ask annoyed with the way he looks at me. "I just want to greet my future wife since she saw her man and decided to ignore him." I laughed at the mention of her man. "Are you serious? If you have nothing doing then get out of way I have important things to do. My man my ass." I said and pushed him aside. I heard him chuckle behind me and his next words maybe stop. "Starting tomorrow I will come and pick you up from your house so as we could walk to school together." I turned and gave him the middle finger before continuing to walk to my class. I sat on my chair waiting for Kojo to arrive. It was almost time for the bell to ring signalling the beginning of the lessons of the day. However, Kojo was nowhere to be seen. I walked about the compound and into other classes in search of him but I couldn't find him. I tried calling him but to my greatest disappointment, his phone was off. I quietly made my way back to my class since Mr Amuzu the Math teacher was approaching. I have completely forgotten that we Have a test today. As soon as the bell rang, Mr Amuzu was already in class. The rest of the day went on well so did the class test. I have already treated some of the topics in my previous school. That was an advantage of attending a private school. The school was over and I was on my way home. Tomorrow is the day Kojo girlfriend will be taken to the shrine and I still haven't come up with a killer plan. I understood the reason why Kojo didn't come to school today. He was devastated. Maybe if I talk to the chief of the village he will be able to do something. So without thinking I made my way to Nana's House. I hated the idea of meeting his son Kwame there but I didn't have a choice. Nana is my last chance to save Kojo's girl. The journey from school to Nana's house was shorter than our house. I got there parked my bicycle and took a deep breath before knocking at their door. I waited for a few seconds before a middle-aged woman opened the door. She's quite shorter than Nana. "Who are you, young lady and who are you looking for?" She asks with a tone of annoyance. She hates me. Don't worry ma'am the feeling is mutual because I also don't like you. focus Esi. " good afternoon ma'am I'm sorry to distribute you this afternoon. My name is Esi Benson and I will like to speak with Nana." I introduced myself. Hearing my name change her annoying facial expression to that of surprise. Viper. "Oh! You mean Esi Benson as in Kofi Benson our Chief farmer?" Who is ours? He is my father and my mother's chief farmer. Opportunist. I think I'm possessed, someone is talking in my mind. "Yes, ma'am" I replied. She showed me one of the biggest smiles I have ever seen. I rolled my eyes at her. If she was to see me rolling my eyes at her, I would have to lose my eyes balls today. Because it's said to be disrespectful. "Oh come in my daughter. Nana is not feeling well and he is about to take his bath when you knocked." Now I'm your daughter! Had I been someone else she would have shut the door on my face. She is a viper. "Don't worry ma'am I just came to greet my future father-in-law and to give him this fresh small bottle of palm wine. But since he is not feeling well I will come back another day with another bottle. My father will have to drink this one." "Don't be silly. Wait here I'm sure he hasn't gone in the bathroom already I will call him for you. After all, our future daughter in law is here." She said and vanished into the hallway. I sat there patiently waiting for Nana and also check the time I didn't want to go home late today. "What a surprise to see you here in my house?" That was a question asked by non-other than Kwame who pop out of nowhere with his sister right behind him. "Hey, Kwame what a surprise I didn't think of seeing you here. What are you doing here?" I stupidly ask. Jesus Esi! He just said his house. "I just said my house" he repeated with hand gestures. "Oh, yeah. Well, I came to see your father." "What for?" "Nothing that concerns you, kids." "Who are you calling kids?" "Esi! What a surprise to see you here. I believe you have already met with your soon to be a husband?" Why are they all happy about this union that will never happen unless my name is not Esi Benson? "Yes, Nana we have already met at school." "Good good. So what brought you here?" He asks whilst dismissing his kids with hand gestures. "Nothing serious Nana. It's been a long time since I have seen you and I thought of visiting my future father-in-law." I said "Since the first time saw you, I have known that you were a sweet and carrying girl and I don't regret choosing you for my Son." He praised me. I smiled he doesn't know what's waiting for him. "Thank you, Nana. I also brought a small bottle of fresh palm wine. But since you are not feeling well, I will give it to my father." I told him with a sad expression. " Don't worry about me Esi I will be fine. hand me that bottle of palm wine so that I finish it right now before my wife comes". He said and I gave him the bottle. "Nana, please can I use your washroom?" "Of cause, just walked on that hallway on your left is the washroom." He directed I thanked him and left. I needed to pee. After I was done, I return to the hall . "thank you, Nana I have to go home now, my mother will be waiting for me." I excused myself "Wait Esi, I will call Kwame to send you home" Is he serious right now? No thank you I prefer to go home alone, lord kindness. "No don't disturb him and I will use my bicycle." I pointed out to my parked bicycle. I had a lot on my mind however, I have to start putting my plans in action. Kojo your girl will remain with you wait and see. "Sorry Nana"
