The sunlight was coming through the window in Souris' room, lighting up Riva’s scarred face. Souris was sitting on the sofa looking at her. She looked like a fallen angel. She stirred in the bed and tried to move her tied hands. She opened her eyes. They were swollen and red. Dark circles engulfed her once bright eyes. She was looking around her changed surroundings and all the events of last night came afresh in her mind. A sob escaped from her mouth. She tried to get up and suddenly her eyes fell on Souris, who was observing her every movement. She froze at her place. He got up from the couch and walked towards the bed. He stood near the footboard.

“You want to use the bathroom?” He asked plainly.

Riva only nodded. He walked towards the headboard and untied the rope only from the headboard railing. Riva’s hands were still tied. He took the blanket away from her, exposing her naked body. He pulled the ropes to gesture to her to get up. She slowly got up as her whole body was writhing in pain from the endless torture she'd been enduring for nearly three months. Souris led her towards her cell, as in his bathroom there are many things which can be used for escaping. Even if she’s not a trained sparrow, she's still a smart girl. Souris had worked with her and he had observed her intelligence and ability to handle difficult situations, quite clearly. The bathroom of her cell only had a pot and a tap. And it was so small that a person couldn’t even bathe in there. Though she was never able to bathe due to the tortures she had been through. As she walked in the bathroom, Souris got lost in his thoughts. The memory of the day when Riva saved his life came into his mind.

Souris and his team used to work late at night in the laboratory as they started their new satellite project. It was one of those nights. Everyone left one by one after finishing their given task. There were only four people left: Souris, Riva, Elliot (Mr. Right) and Jessica, Riva’s friend. Jessica and Elliot were working on the designs. Together they’ve drawn many of them and now they are selecting the final designs for the presentation. Riva was busy with Souris discussing the launch of their first reusable rocket, which will happen in two days. As it was testing launch, they decided to use basic fuels like hazardous sodium and thermite mix. Some of the workers just left after loading the fuel into the rocket. Elliot came inside his room to give him the final designs they had selected. Jessica was following after him. Souris and Riva were in the middle of the conversation when they walked in.

“I think only the top part will break,” she said.

“We are only making assumptions here. There’s no point until we see…” he stopped as the door opened of his office. They both looked there as both their friends were coming in the room. Elliot sat on the chair right next to Riva and Jessica stood at her left side. Riva looked at her friend who was looking exhausted after a long working day, as they all were. They both smiled at each other. Elliot placed the big file of final designs.

“I’ve sent the ppt to your mail.” Elliot said with a heavy sigh. Clearly, he was tired.

“Hmm… You both can leave.” Souris said, massaging his temples. He looked at both of them and nodded. Jessica placed her hand on Riva’s shoulder and gestured her to come along with them.

“Come, let’s go Riva.” She said.

“Yeah come, I’ll drop you both at home,” Elliot offered.

Riva looked at Souris and was about to say something.

“We’re still in the middle of the discussion about our new rocket launch. I’m afraid she has to stay a little longer.” Souris spoke matter of fact.

“Can’t you continue it tomorrow?” Elliot argued.

“It’s in two days so we can’t delay it.” Riva spoke in between. “I’ll be at home in an hour” she continued, looking at Jessica. They have both been staying together since this new project started.

“Okay! Do you need anything to eat when you get home?” She asked. Today they had their dinner at the lab so she asked her if she was more hungry.

“Umm… No, Thanks. Just go and have some rest.” She said with a smile. They both left after that. And Riva was all alone with Souris in the lab now. Her heart started to beat fast and she was trying her best to look calm.

“Umm… Let’s continue?” she asked.

“Yeah” he replied. And they both started their further discussion about the possibilities of the damage of their new rocket. Their discussion continued for half an hour and they got up to leave. They came out of his office.

“I’ve to check the payload before leaving. Can you wait?” Souris said to Riva.

“Yeah sure” Riva replied, shrugging her shoulders.

Souris headed towards the payload room. He was checking if the fuel was filled. Suddenly, an empty bottle of water fell on the sodium with a jerk of his hand. A drop of water touched the sodium and

BOOM!

Souris was thrown back a few feet away because of this explosion. Quickly he was surrounded by fire. Riva ran towards the room as soon as she heard the sound. She froze for a moment seeing the man she admired the most, standing in fire. Souris was trying to find a way to get himself out. He saw Riva and hope came to his heart. But suddenly Riva ran away from there, leaving Souris shocked. He closed his eyes and only hoped that at least she would press the fire alarm before leaving the building. Riva ran towards her desk. She took the fire extinguishers which she placed under her desk and Jessica’s. She arrived with the two extinguishers and started to extinguish the fire around Souris. As soon as the fire went down he jumped out of it and came out of the room. Riva handed him the extinguisher. When he took it, he found her hands shaking.

“I-I will go and get more.” She said with a shaky voice and ran towards the store room. Within 5-6 minutes they both managed to put out the fire from the room. They put the extinguishers down and Souris let out a heavy breath and turned towards Riva. She was also breathing heavily and when her eyes met Souris she was not able to control herself and jumped in his arms. Souris caught her and she was standing on her toes. She started to cry.

“Are you okay?” She said, holding him tightly, pressing her body against his.

Adrenaline ran in his body. Souris took her face in his hands as his eyes met her teary eyes and, without wasting a second, he smashed his lips on hers. Riva was shocked at first but soon she gave in to his kiss. She started moving her lips with his. He lifted her tiny body up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. He started to walk towards her. She looked down, trying to breathe evenly. He stood in front of her and took the button of her top between his fingers. She gasped at that and he let out a chuckle. He started to do her buttons. After that, he lifted her chin with his fingers.

“Let’s get you home now.” he said in his husky voice. Her eyes twinkled at his gesture. He bent towards her and kissed her softly on her lips.

Souris came out of his thought when he heard the sound of the door. Riva came out of the bathroom. Her eyes were red again. ‘She must be crying’, he thought. When she took another step, she fell on the ground.
