Chapter 8

Valentina's pov "Wait what?" Gina whispers, and beckons me to come closer to her, while we're sitting next to each other on the wooden desk. I pick through the pockets of my jeans with boredom. "You heard me, do you really want me to say it again?" I whisper-yell looking around at my surroundings to make sure nobody was listening to our conversation. Thankfully, everyone was in there own conversations and some were in there own world where they didn't care a slight bit. "You need to tell me the details and how this happened, not just what happened. I need to know, before it kills me on the inside." Gina says, holding her heart dramatically. "Whatever, I'll tell you during lunch." I giggle slightly, and she nods. The bell finally rings and everyone rushes to grab their belongings and leave the classroom. "So how was your day yesterday? Besides what you told me earlier." Gina asks, as we walk to my locker. I open my locker revealing a picture of my idol: Selena Quintanilla and a mirror beside it. I look at Gina from the mirror and see her putting on lip gloss on her lips. "Uh, it was okay I guess. I got an offer for a model industry." I say nonchalantly, brushing my hair with my fingers. Gina looks at me through the mirror and drops her lip gloss and looks frozen at me. What the hell is wrong with her? "Are you f*****g serious?!" Gina says with excitement in her voice, but also very loudly. Everyone turns around to stare at us, causing me to shush Gina with my finger on her lips. "Can you chill?" I ask quietly, and Gina grabs my arms, squealing up and down. "How?! Why? Like huh?" Gina says in confusion, I just laugh at her antics. She raises her eyebrows for me to answer her, but I just shrug in response. I close my locker not needing it anymore, and walk into the cafeteria. Gina from behind me walks fast to catch up to me and puts herself in front of me. "What?" I ask as my eyes are directly on hers. "Why are you being so calm about this? I expect you to be jumping around in excitement." "Well I don't really care about it, as long as I'm getting paid I'm cool with it." I say, sitting down on our usual table. "When do you start?" Gina asks with a beaming smile, like a child receiving a new toy. "She hasn't told me yet, but she was going to call me to tell me." I say, picking at my food with my fork. I'm debating whether I should eat? When I eat, my stomach hurts and I feel like throwing up, but when I don't eat, my stomach still hurts. Nothing makes sense, which is why I don't eat sometimes. "Do you not like the food? You can have my sandwich, I'm not going to eat it." Gina says, sensing that I wasn't going to eat the school food. She pushes her lunch box towards me, so I can grab the sandwich. I'm not picky, I just have a sensitive stomach meaning that I have to be careful eating certain things. "Why aren't you going to eat?" I ask as to why she's not going to eat. "Not really hungry. Besides, we can ditch after school and go eat somewhere." Gina says, grabbing her phone and looking at herself through her screen. "I can't, my mom is taking me to get a car. Apparently she's tired of driving me every morning." I pout, a little sad that my mom won't get to drive me to places anymore. "Can I go with you guys? I've met your mom one time before but I want to meet her again, that time she was drunk! I want to meet her properly. As my besties mom." Gina says, trying to convince me to say yes. "Sure. Can you drop me off home today? From there, we can go." I ask and Gina nods grabbing her sandwich back and ripping it in half. She hands me the other piece and I eat it throughly. Let's hope I don't throw up from eating. "By the way, you didn't tell me about what happened yesterday." Gina says reminding me. "Oh yeah, well basically she was out in the balcony, I followed her, she was smoking, then one thing lead to another and she almost kissed me." "Wait she smokes? Like cigarettes or weed? It better not be the damn cancer sticks." Gina says, causing me to laugh. "Weed." I say and she sighs in relief. She's such a weirdo. From the corner of my eye, I see people coming towards our table causing me to turn around and see who these people are. To my surprise it was Fernanda, Deena, and Heaven. Heaven is wearing jean blue cargo pants with a white graphic tee. Let me also mention the silver rings on her fingers. I've never seen her in these type of clothes, which is weird because I actually like her style. Not too girly, but also not too masculine. Not that I don't like either one, I do I mean... I am bisexual, but it's rare to see girls dress like this, especially in school. To say she looks ho- Okay shut up brain you're doing too much right now. There's no way I was about to call Heaven hot. I mean... would that be such a bad thing? Yes because I hate her! I felt someone sitting next to me it wasn't Heaven it was... Deena? Okay?? "Hi." Deena mumbled, barely audible. She's fidgeting her fingers and not giving me direct eye contact, she's staring directly at her hands with her head down. Is she... nervous? Okay I'm exaggerating now. Deena has purple short hair stopping by her shoulders. Her light blue eyes compliment her eyeliner that she's currently wearing. She's wearing blue baggy jeans with a black shirt. Okay good style as well. People may not think so, but I like her style! "Hi." I say back with a smile. I didn't want to be a b***h and not smile, I always smile at everyone when talking. I just feel like it's a respect thing to do. It was an awkward silence from the five of us sitting in the table, except Heaven who was standing beside Deena looking at both of us back and forth with her eyes. "So not to be rude or anything, but why the f**k are you guys sitting here?" There was a brief pause, then Gina opens her mouth again. "First off, I know Fernanda wants to sit here beside me, but Heaven you didn't have to come here when you know you hate Valentina and I." "I don't hate either of you." Heaven says in a serious tone. Is she lying or she just saying that so she can be here? I mean it's not that serious either way. "Oh really? Then why are you always saying s**t to Valentina?" Gina asks, crossing her arms on her chest. "I'm just messing with her." Heaven shrugs, causing me to scoff. Is she being serious right now? She almost kissed me then she wants to say she's messing with me? So, she was messing with me yesterday when she was about to kiss me? "Yeah sure whatever." Gina brushes it off, holding Fernandas hand. I'm so happy that she found her. From what I've seen, Fernanda actually treats her right. Although both of them aren't official, it's still cute that they're able to hold hands in public without the fear of being criticized. Heaven sits in between Deena and I, leaving Deena to look at her with widen eyes. Deena whispered something in Heavens ear, which Heaven whispered, "I don't care," In a stern voice, leaving me in a confused state from beside them. "Is everything okay?" I ask trying to get them to stop whispering at each other. They both look at me and nod. Heaven doesn't stop looking at me, in fact, she's looking at me through her intense emerald eyes. She looks first at my eyes, then slowly moves her eyes to look at my outfit, more specifically my boobs. I was wearing ripped mom jeans, a red with cherries crop top that showed cleavage, and on my feet were my black and white converse. "Can we talk?" Heaven asks staring directly into my eyes. I didn't even get the chance to speak when Heaven grabs my hands and pulls me away to god knows where. Thankfully, no one was staring at us so nobody really noticed we were gone. Heaven drags me to the janitors closet, and shuts the door leaving me speechless. Am I really back in the closet again? "Listen to me and don't speak," Heaven says raising her eyebrow and I nod understanding. "You didn't tell anyone about our almost kiss, right?" Heaven asks, like as if she thinks I didn't say anything. I did tell Gina but I know she wouldn't tell a soul. I decide that I shouldn't lie because I wouldn't want her to lie to me. Even though she has probably lied before to me, I'm just not that kind of person. "I told Gina," I say looking at the floor. I was ashamed that I told that to Gina, but I have to tell someone. "I told her, but I swear on my moms life that she won't say anything." I continue sounding hopeful that she wouldn't kill me. I'm still looking down at the floor because I'm scared to make eye contact. I'm backed against the door. Heaven grabs my chin tightly and tilts my head up causing me to look at her. "Look at me when you speak." Heaven says sternly, still holding my chin with her hand. I look at her with my hazel eyes, while she stares at me intensely. "If this gets out, I'll literally kill you." She says one last time, and pushes me making me stumble away from the door. She opens the door and gets out. Well damn.... ————- It's finally after school and currently Gina is driving me home from school. I decide not to tell her about what happened with Heaven to avoid conflict. Even though she did ask me what happened when Heaven dragged me away, I didn't say anything useful to her. We arrive at my house looking at my driveway to see if my mom was home, which to my surprise she is. I walk inside my house following Gina behind me. "Vale? Estas aquí?" (Val? You're here?) My mom shouts from the kitchen. "Yes I'm here mami, you remember Gina right?" I ask hopeful that she remembers Gina, if not that would be embarrassing. "Of course," My mom smiles, and extends her arms engulfing Gina into a hug. "Who couldn't forget about Gina? She's like a happy puppy." My mom laughs, resulting Gina to smile widely and giggle. "Is it okay if I join you guys today? I have nothing else better to do." Gina says, looking at my mom then back at me. My mom nods after telling her, "You can always join us." My mom has never been this nice to any of my friends, she must really like Gina in order to act like this. "I thought you had homework?" I ask rhetorically knowing that she probably won't care anyways. "Who said I'm doing it? Not me." Gina shrugs making my mom laugh in the process and shaking her head in disbelief. "Let's go locas," (Crazies) My mom says grabbing her keys from the table. "After this we can go out and eat, I'm starving." My mom finishes walking outside the door. "What does l-loca mean?" Gina stutters out, not knowing how to say the word even though my mom said it seconds ago. "It just means we're crazy." I say, and Gina nods. I walk out with Gina shutting the door from behind me, I grab the key from my purse that's attached on my arm and lock the door. Time skip to the car dealership——- "Woah look at these beauties." Gina says in admire for the luxurious cars we drove past. Of course I'm not getting a Mercedes, or a car that's luxurious because they're expensive, but I do just want a car. Preferably, a jeep because I'm obsessed with with a pink one. Let's hope they have one, or maybe I can just wrap it pink. "Hello ladies, I'm your salesman Gio, I'll be helping you girls out today. Is there anything I can get you before we start? Maybe a water? Popcorn?" The blonde man asks, and we all shake our heads. "Alrighty then. What car are you looking for today?" He asks, looking directly at me mom assuming it's for her. "Actually I'm getting a car for my daughter here. What did you say you're looking for mija?" My mom asks turning her body around at me. "I'm looking a Jeep maybe in the color pink if you have one, it doesn't have to be the newest model I just really want that color." I say in a hopeful tone. I look at Gina who sticks her tongue at me playfully. I stick my tongue back causing us to giggle in unison. "I see. Let me see if I have any in stock. You said a hot pink or a light pink?" He asks, sitting down in his chair and typing in his keyboard. "A light pink." I reply fidgeting with my pants anxiously. I don't even know why I'm anxious right now, sometimes it just happens randomly. Gina senses this, and so does my mom and both of them place their hand on mine and smile. I smile back knowing they have my back all the time. My mind though, is stuck on a certain blonde girl who has the most gorgeous emerald eyes in the planet. I can't seem to get her off my mind. My thoughts are interrupted by the salesman talking. "Okay yes, we do have one last one," He says clicking his tongue. "It's a 2016 model, is that alright with you?" He asks and I nod. "That's perfect." I say and he nods grabbing the paper work letting my mom fill it out as Gina and I sit here in boredom playing Roblox together. Don't judge us we absolutely love Roblox. Then before you I knew it, I have the key to my brand new 2016 light pink Jeep. I'm so happy and excited that I want to cry. "Let's drive your car, come on. I'm so happy for you!" Gina says proudly, and gets in my passenger seat. My mom is driving by herself to the restaurant we're eating it which I forgot the name of, but it's not important. On the way to the restaurant, Gina and I were jamming out to various artists. I love that I have a friend like Gina who's supportive and encourages me in anything. "I'm starving, let's go!" Gina groans in grumpiness. She's just like me, whenever I'm hungry I get really grumpy. Gina and I walk into the restaurant looking like bad bitches, well actually just her because I look homeless as per usual. I look for my mom and there she is sitting in a booth on her phone. My mom is so gorgeous, luckily for me I sort of got her genes. "Hola mami." I greet and hug her side. I thanked her so many times after she bought me my car because I can't thank her enough for it. Gina waves at her and I sit beside Gina, while my mom is in front of us. "So Gina, are you single?" My mom asks randomly. The question she asks makes me look up at her and widen my eyes. Who asks that kind of question? "Not really, I am talking to this one girl though from school." Gina blushes. "Well hopefully she treats you right. You're such an amazing girl. I'm glad that you and my daughter are friends." My mom smiles, looking up from her menu to look at Gina. The thing with my mom is that she isn't homophobic, but my father was. He forbidden me to see my brother when he came out. "Thank you! I'm glad I'm friends with your daughter too." Gina grins, looking at me and putting her head on my shoulder.
