Chapter 12

Valentina's pov It's been a week since my so called, "accident" and I've been doing great so far. The medication for my anxiety surprisingly has been working, and I'm glad that it has, since I've been waiting for it to get better. My mom has been working a lot lately, which is making me worried that something is going on. She's never really worked this hard in her life, or maybe she just genuinely likes her job. On the other hand, Heaven has gone back to her old acrimonious self. Ever since last week, she hasn't made eye contact with me. Did I do something wrong? Or was she just being nice last week? Also, Jay has been really close to me lately, not that I'm complaining, I actually like his company, but his questions and actions towards me are making me suspicious. I still don't know why he's trying to know so much about me, and my family. I told Gina about it and she said that Jay may have a crush on me. The problem with that is that I don't feel the same way towards him. I literally just met him, that's way too fast to determine. Currently, I'm sitting on one of the benches in the locker room tying my shoe laces, while the other girls are getting dress into normal clothes as we had just finished morning practice. "Valentina." Violet smiles at me, sitting on the bench that is in front of mine. "Hi." I greet with a smile. Violet and I usually just talk about cheer. We have much in common, like her family being from Mexico, which may I add—is the same city I was raised in. Also Violet's mom used to be friends with my mom back during her high school years, it's a pretty small world we live in nowadays. "How are you doing? I heard what happened, from Gina of course, because the girls and I were worried." Violet asks sincere. Aww, the girls were worried for me? That's so sweet of them. "I'm doing better. Thankfully, nothing worse happened like me fainting in front of the whole school." I say, getting up and brushing through my somewhat wavy hair. Sometimes my hair is wavy, and sometimes it's straight. To be honest, my hair is just a mixture of wavy and straight. Just like my sexuality. "True, but even if you did, there's nothing wrong with it. We understand what you go through." Violet consoles me and I look at her through my mirror of my locker. Would they understand? Perhaps some would, but some won't. In fact, some individuals will make fun of me for suffering with this. Last year at my old school, I had a panic attack at lunch. Since the school was small and hardly anyone suffered with anxiety, majority of people made fun of me. Even the principal! I'm just scared for that to happen again, since I was humiliated about what happened. I don't want anyone to laugh at me. I'm sure if anyone did, Gina would go all Lima heights on their ass. (If you get the reference lol). "Well thank you, I appreciate it." I say in a appreciatively tone. Violet smiles, showing her pearly white teeth before walking away. Well... that was a random encounter. I walk into the hallway by myself, since Gina and everyone else were still changing, only to notice my locker tremendously wrecked. What the f**k? The combination has been dismantled, and the pieces of the combination are plastered all over the floor. I look over to my locker and open it gently, only to reveal that my textbooks are torn up, my broken mirror with a slight red stain which is what seems to be lipstick of some sort, were all over the place, and my smashed perfume bottle all gone. Everything is either broken or torn into pieces. Who? Why? What? I'm in literal shock and confusion runs over my body, as to who and why someone did this to my locker. What did my locker and it's contents ever do to them? Dios mío, por favor ayúdame. I shakily get my phone from my back pocket and unlock it to go into my contacts. I call the number and it starts ringing making me anxious. "Hello?" The voice speaks, I couldn't recognize it, yet I clicked on the first contact that my finger pressed upon. "Hi." I say with a shaky voice. I take the phone off my ear and look at the contact name. Gina. Thank god. "What's wrong? Do I have to beat someone up?" I stay silent. I want to tell her to come over here and help me, but it seems as if I'm paralyzed. "Val? Did something happen? Just tell me where you are and I'll go over there to you." Gina says, now in a worried tone. I hear her deep breaths through the phone trying to catch her breath. "Come to my locker." Is all I say, then I hang up. I stand here in discontent looking at my poor locker. It didn't deserve this treatment. "Val, there you are," There was a pause for a brief second. I gaze my eyes over to her, and catch her staring at my locker. She places her hand over her mouth in disbelief. "Who the f**k did this?" Gina asks angry at the fact that a human being did this. No way an animal could've done it because the locker is somewhat cleaned. If an animal did this, my locker would've been messier, but it's not. It's somewhat... neater than what an animal would've done. Am I really doing a comparison right now? I don't have a suspect list, I'm not even thinking about a suspect. What I am thinking about is why am I being targeted? No way was this an accident. My whole locker is destroyed and whoever did this knows what they were doing. "I don't know." I say, fidgeting my fingers in anxiousness. "What the hell were they looking for?" Gina mumbled to herself, bending down to take a close look at my torn textbooks. I stay silent not knowing what to say. As stated, I'm still in shock and incredulity of everything that just happened. "I think I know who did this," Gina says in confidence. She pulls her phone out and starts taking pictures of my locker. How can she possibly know? Not even I know who did this. "Come on, we're going to interrogate." Gina continues, grabs bing my wrist and pulling me away from the crime scene. Why can we just go to the principal? "G, why can't we just go to the principal? Or tell a teacher?" I question, as she stops to look at me. "Do you think that they'll help? Last year a kid got robbed and you know what the principal said? He said, that they were going to investigate. The fact is, they never did. They didn't even care." Gina speaks in a upset tone. I don't say anything. Gina takes the hint and grabs my wrist again to go to the girls locker room. She thinks one of the cheer girls did this? We walk inside the locker room, instantly I hear some laughter coming out of the girls, and also a lot of horse playing. I'm glad they're having fun. Gina motions me to follow her to where my locker is, but we aren't going to my locker. Gina stops right in front of.. Heaven. s**t. No way she did this. Heaven looks at Gina confused as to why she's standing there with her arms crossed over her chest. She looks mad too, so there's that. Heaven looks at me, but I don't say anything, causing her to look at Gina again. "May I help you?" Heaven asks in a sort of sarcastic tone. She's sitting on the bench of the locker room man-spread. "Be honest with me," Gina simply says, holding her hand out to prevent Heaven from saying anything while she's talking. Gina pulls out her phone again, and held it front of Heaven's face. She furrows her eyebrows in bewilderment. "This right here is Valentina's locker after someone broke into, looking for god knows what." Gina says, pulling her phone closer to Heaven's eyes for a better view. "Okay I have several things to say," Heaven speaks, taking a sip of water before continuing. "First off, are you accusing me? As cruel as I am, I wouldn't do this. Trust me if I needed any information about Valentina, I could easily just get it from my sources." I look at Gina who currently has a straight face. No laugh, just pure solemn plastered on her face. "Second of all, why would someone break into a locker and trash it-" Heaven gets interrupted by Gina talking. "That's what I want you to find out." Gina says, emphasizing on the word "you", for Heaven. "Me? Why should I?" Heaven questions. Of course she wouldn't want to do it. "Gina she doesn't want to, let's just go." I say. I was about to walk away, when I felt a hand on my shoulder pulling me back. I felt Heavens strong hand on my shoulder, causing me to have no reaction at all. Litreal shock. "I never said I didn't want to. I'm just asking why should I do it? Why me?" Heaven asks trying to beguile me from the tone of her voice. I shrug not knowing what to say. On the other hand, Gina speaks up on behalf of me, since I'm still in an appalled trance. "You have the power to go through all of this. You figure everything out. Plus, you have information to get on people, so." Gina utters. Heaven looks at me with worry and sympathy, then looks back at Gina. "Okay, I'll do it. I'll find out really soon--though I'm not a detective I'll try my best. When I have a suspect, I'll use my domination to mind-control them. Trust me, I'll be good for this." Heaven voices. She's assertive that she'll find the person that did this. "Do you even have a suspect pool yet?" I ask curiously. I know we barely asked her like five seconds ago, but I decided to ask anyways. "Actually I do. I'm not going to say anything yet, I'm going to give it time till I get my information right." Heaven says, getting up and closing her locker. "I'll let you know if anything. In the meantime, if you have any new information, let me know." She finishes, leaving on her heel. Let's hope she can find out who did this. ***** Heaven's pov After what happened with Valentina I knew that I had to help. I usually don't help people in general, but for some reason, I agreed to. Why? I have no idea. I guess I finally want to be a...good person? Ha, very funny Heaven, very funny. I'm not known as a good person and everyone on earth knows that. I guess maybe I just feel bad, or I'm just bored. I do have one suspect and if anyone can guess it... it's gross boy. I'm very observant and optimistic that it's him. I see the way he looks at her, and not just because I definitely know he has a crush on her, but because he's very suspicious. The way he questions her and asks her so many things about her personal life makes me certain that it's him. I asked my consultant to give me some information about him, and right away they gave me some dirt that I know will catch him in the act. Well not really, but it sure does give me a reason to be suspicious about him! Jay or whatever the f**k, isn't even his real name. His real name is Xander. The thing is, if I confront him about it, it'll definitely scare him away. I don't know why he has a different identity but I know it has something to do what Valentina. Although I barely know her, I'm also not stupid to know it's about her. Even a person with one working brain cell will agree with me. Now what should I do? Should I confront him? Okay no, I just said that's a bad idea. Should I ignore it for now and wait? We shall see about my actions towards him, all I know is that it won't be good for him.
