14 The Clans’ Answer The morning after Petra’s apology dawned bright and clear. He helped pack up his tent. Then, hoping Amlinn would honour her promise that they could ride together, he made his way to the centre of the camp and found Amlinn checking the harness of her grandfather’s horses. He cleared his throat. “Good morning?” It came out as a question. “Good morning,” Amlinn replied with a smile, and suddenly the morning seemed even brighter and clearer than before. “Grandfather is riding with Samarrind to discuss a few matters in private, so it’s you and me on the lead wagon today.” Now the day positively sparkled.
