“She is MY mate and she will be coming with ME!”
The silence that filled the room threatened to detonate at any moment. It was so heavy, no one, not even Max noticed that Alice slipped out of the room.
Slowly, bristling with rage, Alpha Lucas took a step towards Gabriel. His wolf, Duke was fighting for control. Lucas' eyes kept shifting to black and back. Lucas was clearly trying to hold his wolf back.
"I'm afraid I can't let you take such a valuable member of my pack!" Lucas said, crossing his arms across his chest. A rookie mistake in Gabriel's opinion. It limited his defensive abilities, and showing his arrogance. Despite having already been thrown across a room, he clearly didn't think he would be attacked again.
Shadow was howling in his mind at the thought of leaving the pack house without his mate.
"That won't happen," Gabriel assured him. "She's ours and will be coming home with us!"
It was Max that spoke. "Valuable member?" he scoffed, stepping towards Lucas. "She's been locked in a dungeon since she was a child." Gabriel growled again. "Is that how you treat valuable member's of your pack? By locking them away and starving them?" Gabriel growled louder at the revelation of her being starved.
Lucas, however, ignored them both. "Sirona was born into this pack. Her abilities and powers are for me and my pack to use as they require. It is a sacrifice that Sirona agreed to make for the good of her pack."
"She was a child!" Marcus said, his voice incredulous. "And if any Alpha asks a child anything they will agree!"
Gabriel's anger was almost boiling over. "Lets kill this son of a b***h!" Shadow snarled, foaming at the mouth.
"No," Gabriel responded as calmly as he could. "But if he carries on talking or if I find out one more thing that happened to Sirona, then he dies!" Shadow reluctantly agreed.
Lucas ignored Marcus, taking another step towards Gabriel. He dropped his arms to his side, a motion that Gabriel noticed and tensed his muscles. Arrogant Lucas may be, but a fool - Gabriel didn't think he was one. Although if he refused to let him take Sirona with him, then a fool is exactly what he would be.
"She is my asset. She stays here!"
Gabriel almost laughed as Lucas used his Alpha command. It wouldn't work on him. He was a stronger Alpha by far. Lucas was clutching at straws. And Gabriel almost walked out, leaving Lucas unscathed, until Lucas spoke again.
"Sirona is mine!"
Gabriel launched at him, snarling. His eyes were obsidian as Shadow forced his way into control.
Lucas flew backwards and slammed into the table, which splintered under the impact. Marcus jumped out of his chair, knocking it backwards so not to be hit by the flying Alphas. Neither he nor Max tried to intervene. Their lives would be made hell if they did.
Gabriel managed to get to his feet and gripped Lucas by the shirt. Blood trickled down from Lucas' nose, which was clearly broken and Gabriel's lip was split. He barely noticed the coppery taste of blood in his mouth, as he pulled his fist back and slammed it into Lucas' face, over and over.
"SIRONA IS MINE!" Between each word he delivered a hard blow, punctuating each word with cries of pain. He let go of Lucas' shirt and watched him crumple to the floor.
With a final snarl, he turned and stormed out of the office. He ignored all the visiting Alpha's who stood with their pack members, stunned and horrified expressions on their faces. Gabriel didn't care what they thought of him. The more he was feared the better. He headed straight to the dungeon.
His heart began thundering as he approached the cell door. What on earth was he going to say? He had left her. He had pulled away when she touched him. She must have thought he didn't want her. But rage had consumed him when he saw the beautiful, delicate thing in the squalor she was residing. He had to get answers. But now, he had to fix this with his mate.
His mouth went dry as he pushed open the door to the cell. His heart hit the bottom of his stomach and it took all of his strength not to vomit then and there. She was gone. The cell was empty.
Shadow took over, as Gabriel was unable to speak, to move. Even breathing was becoming difficult for his human half. He stormed back to the entrance way of the pack house and spun in a circle in the middle of the room. His eyes were blazing, canines and claws out. He would cut through them all if he had to. He had to find her.
"Where is she?" Gabriel's voice was a low growl. But it still attracted the attention of the nearby gathering of people. They started to filter in to the hallway, watching Gabriel spin around on the spot, checking every corner, every doorway.
"Where is she?" He spoke a little louder this time. No one answered. Gabriel was crazed, he knew he was losing his mind with need. But he ahd to find her. She was his. He spun around once again, meeting the eye of every single person who stood and stared at him.
"Someone answer me!" Gabriel demanded. No one moved. No one spoke.
The rage that had been bubbling over in Gabriel's mind and heart erupted. He had known this was coming, he knew there was no way of stopping it now. His temper was legendary, his strength and unsympathetic nature followed closely behind. The floodgates were open now and closing them was not an option.
Gabriel swirled around again and roared.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY MATE?"
