Santi and I stayed up way too late reading articles about the Cavanaughs. Apparently, they were the nineteenth century equivalent of the contemporary couple who just didn’t find it necessary to abide by societal rules. I liked them for that and imagined that if they lived now, they’d probably plant their front yard in wildflowers, paint their house lavender, and insist on letting their children run around the yard n***d.
