I woke up the next morning in my own bed with a little boy curled tight against my side. My entire body groaned when I moved even a finger, but I wasn’t eager to move anyway. I was home and safe with my son. That was all I needed. As I lay there, drifting in and out of sleep, I heard the distinct noises of cooking coming from downstairs.
