I secured the seat belt around Dante as Alexis does the same for Danielle. Dante's fingers wrap themselves around my wrist, making me lift my gaze to his. He places a warm palm against my cheek as a smile pulls across his face that doesn't meet his brilliant gray eyes.
"Everything is going to be alright, mom. We'll get Nonna back, and she'll come home with us, right?" His eyes searched mine as I plastered on my best smile for him.
"Of course, sweetheart. That's the plan." I looked over to see Dani watching me carefully. "Now listen you two. You're going with us, but you have to promise that you will stick to the plan. Never leave aunt Alexis's side. No matter what, okay?" They both nod their heads silently as Alexis nods to me from the other side of the SUV.
