*** Lana's POV *** ♡ 6:00 AM ♡ The moment my alarm went off, my eyes flew open. Reality hit me like a wave—I was really doing this. Waking up to a strict routine, tending to a spoiled billionaire, and living in absolute luxury. The soft silk sheets hugged my body, a glittering chandelier sparkled above my head, and my closet was filled with designer uniforms. This was the life… or at least it would be, if I could survive working for Kylian. My fingers brushed against my lips, the memory of our light kiss still fresh. A small smirk tugged at my mouth before reality crashed back in. I couldn’t afford to mess this up. This job was my only hope of getting my father the surgery he desperately needed. Kayla had been sending me constant updates, making sure Dad didn’t feel my absence. All I had to do was keep this position and not provoke Kylian again. Ms. Paltz had instructed me to report to Kylian’s room at exactly 7:15 AM for his first round of care. I was to attend to him for the entire day. “Alright, Lana,” I whispered to myself, “try not to upset the patient today.” I moved quickly. In no time, I had showered, slipped into my crisp uniform, and stood in front of Kylian’s door, heart pounding with a mix of fear and desperation. I took a deep breath and knocked. No reply. Here we go again. I knocked once more. This time, a loud groan echoed from inside the room. “What do you want?” Kylian barked. I cleared my throat, trying to sound professional. “I’m here for your first check-up of the day.” A heavy sigh came from the other side. “What check-up?” I blinked, taken aback. “Mr. Kylian… I’m sure Ms. Paltz briefed you on our schedule. As your private nurse, I’m supposed to attend to you throughout the day, starting with—” “I’m not interested in that crap,” he cut in rudely. The nerve of this man. “Mr. Kylian, we really need to do this now. I have to check on the condition of your legs—” “Go away!” No. No, no, no. He was not going to get me fired before I even started. I spun on my heel and marched toward the lobby, where Ms. Paltz was barking orders at the staff in her usual stern tone. I cleared my throat behind her. “Excuse me, Ms. Paltz?” She turned sharply, startling me. “Yes? How may I help you?” “Um… I don’t know if you briefed Mr. Kylian properly, but he’s being extremely difficult. He won’t let me in or listen to anything I say.” “And?” she replied, unfazed. “I was hoping you could talk to him? He refuses to cooperate.” She shrugged. “That’s not my problem. You’re being paid to attend to him, so make him listen. As you can see, I have an entire household to run.” What the hell? I get paid to nurse him, not babysit his tantrums. “You have twenty minutes to complete his check-up,” she continued. “Then make sure he’s downstairs for breakfast in thirty.” With that, she spun around and continued issuing orders, leaving me stunned and speechless. How was I supposed to drag that stubborn man out of his room when I couldn’t even get him to do a simple check-up? I was about to head back and face my doom when the roar of a powerful motorcycle filled the yard. The maids quickly straightened up as the rider circled dramatically before coming to a stop. The man was dressed in a sleek black catsuit with a matching glittering helmet. He swung off the bike with effortless swagger, removed his helmet, and revealed a strikingly handsome face paired with a mischievous smirk. “Hi, peeps! Feels good to be back home.” Back home? Was he the second son? The way the maids relaxed around him suggested he was the light-hearted presence in this otherwise tense household. “Ms. Paltz… What a lovely day, isn’t it? How have you been?” he asked with a charming grin. For the first time since I’d arrived, I saw the faintest hint of a smile on Ms. Paltz’s face. “Finn, what brings you here so early?” she asked, her tone softer than usual. “Why? Can’t a guy come check on all the beautiful people he missed? I could feel the love from miles away, so I’m here to bless you all with this pretty face.” The maids giggled, bowing their heads slightly. Interesting. “So… where’s that stone-headed friend of mine? Still sulking in his room?” Finn asked. “Take a wild guess,” Ms. Paltz replied, her strict demeanor returning. Finn smirked and climbed the steps to the lobby. That’s when his eyes landed on me. “Mmm… haven’t seen this pretty face before. And who are you?” My goodness, does he flirt with everyone? “Oh, that’s Kylian’s new private nurse,” Ms. Paltz answered. “Another one?” Finn chuckled. “He’s relentless.” What did he mean by that? “Come on,” he gestured to me. “Let’s go drag Kylian out of his prison.” “Right,” I said, blinking rapidly as I hurried after him. We reached Kylian’s door. I was about to knock when Finn simply pushed it open. “We’re supposed to knock—” I whispered. “Kylian!” Finn howled. “Hell no! You can’t just barge into my room, Finn. What if I was naked?” “Oh, come on, bro. We’ve seen each other’s d***s. There’s literally nothing to hide.” My eyes widened. An awkward silence filled the room. “We’ve been friends since childhood,” Kylian stuttered quickly. “We took baths together as teens. It’s definitely NOT what you think.” I turned away, biting back a smirk at his flustered explanation. “So,” Finn continued, “if I understand correctly, she’s supposed to attend to you, right?” “Ugh…” Kylian groaned, pushing himself backward in his wheelchair. “Stop doing this, man. I don’t want nurses. Stop helping them attend to me—it’s never going to work.” Them? I cleared my throat. “Sorry to interrupt, but I have an urgent question. When you said ‘them’… what exactly did you mean?” Finn chuckled. “You didn’t know? You’re not the first, darling. And definitely not the second. There have been many before you.” I stared into space, stunned. “Did you even read the contract terms properly?” Finn asked, holding his chin with a smirk. “I… did, but—” The truth was, I hadn’t. I had just grabbed the pen and signed it in desperation. “Damn…” “Yup,” Finn said, popping the ‘p’. “That’s why the pay was so juicy. You’ve been booby-trapped, sweetheart.” His words echoed in my ears. YOU HAVE BEEN (BOOBY) TRAPPED.
